An urban alligator who has been eating dogs and other pets and terrorising a neighbourhood is now wanted, dead or alive.

Reptiles including aligators and non native snakes and lizards are becoming quite a problem in Florida. I saw a tv show recently where discussed how a lot of people bought pet snakes like anacondas, boas and other exotic reptiless as pets and then ended up letting them loose in the wild when they got too big to handle. Since the climate in Florida is perfect for them, they have flourished, and started to multiply at an alarming rate.

As more and more development has taken place in and around the everglades, alligators have also caused problems like this as they are forced to live with humans.

Not much you can do about attacks like these. The animals are just doing what comes naturally.

That sucks. I don't really blame the alligator though. It's only doing what comes natural to it. I hope they don't kill it.

Florida law is a nuisance gator over 6 feet (I think 6 feet) that is caught is to be killed.

The gator population has gotten bad over the years where they have few natural predators as young gators which allows the population to explode. There are a set number of permits for each year for hunting wild gators.

I've swam with a few (you kind of tend to do this when growing up as a kid in the woods of Florida), and most will leave you alone. Its the bigger ones that get more aggressive and will become problems.

BTW, Gator Tail is yummy, try some on your next trip to Florida.

smart gator he found an easy food source...i ate one of his brethren in a burger the other day tho so take that fucker
p.s. alligator was all right it really just kinda tasted like meat in the burger until the end when it got a bit seafoody...also it was a bit chewy
