I came across this sight while working on a project in school today. I found out that the last job I was working at was under paying me. That is the exact reason I quit and decided to go back to school.

Apparently the field I am going into is very underpaid where I live

I know I'm underpaid...but in reality, I have it absolutely made...I couldn't really ask for a better boss...it's a small price to pay for the perks I have.

Not really. The job market in the Midwest sucks, and people will take whatever they can get, so employers don't have to pay shit. The only plus is that the cost of living is absurdly low. Our minimum wage in Missouri just got raised to $6.50 (I think) from $5.15...two people can actually survive in some areas (pay the rent, bills, food) if they both make $5.15/hour.

Exactly the same with me - I just got promoted and it seemed like a fortune for the first few months but I could do with a bit more now

Hell no he doesn't, his wife reminds him daily of it too. I do get a nice bonus at the end of the year though and set my own hours. Plus have many "dead" days in the winter (no work for anyone) that I'm paid for regardless. *shrugs* Go to Dr. or whatever when I want too. So I can't complain, I'm in control. lol

Not only am I underpaid, the last paycheck I got I had to go and complain just to get all the pay that was legally owed to me. They shorted me about 5 hours of work.
