Do you make assumptions about members based on their 'Rep Power'?

Nope. It doesn't matter if you have 150 or 3800 rep points. I've seen some people with decent rep crash and burn all of a sudden. Also, the trolls that crash the forum deserve to roast in the red zone.

Personally, this is my philosophy on reputation. You can't go judging a person by how much or how little reputation they have. As was said in the Rep System/Rep Power Thread:

To that end, the reputation system does not signify the importance, credibility or respect level of a member. It may reflect accurately on some members, but may not on others. (This does not even take into account members that joined before or long after the rep system was implemented in the Spring of 2005!) So, as a new member, do not worry about positive or negative rep from a 1 rep point member or a member with 4 digit rep. Remember that rep points play NO role in the moderation of the board - a new member is treated the same as a huge rep collector. It is not a status symbol - it is a fun and optional way to play "trading cards".

If people are going to treat the rep system so seriously because you can get MyFreeOnes points from it, or because they think it reflects them as a person, it's time to take a break from the board and the computer and go to this great and wonderful place called the real world.

The "real world." Oooh. I don't like the sound of that. Does it hurt?

I've done a few posts on the Identify / Name the Babe board and usually get an ID off someone with lots of reps so I guess I assume they know their stuff! With that in mind, and the fact that this thread has lots of posts by highly reputatable contributors :) lol Can one of you tell me who the fuck this is??? http://board.freeones.com/showthread.php?t=266194

I'm sorry I do not watch pornography. It disgusts me and you should be ashamed of yourself for even looking at it :D

Nah, sorry man cant help . . .

Agreed. But I also think people who take the time to help build the database by posting unique (not reposted) links deserve a tip of the cap, and in that way rep serves a purpose beyond being a "fun and optional way to play trading cards".

I don't post many good porn links anymore, and rarely do I successfully ID models (although I do try).

I also sometimes visit "that thread" that alters your rep power upwardly.

So on that basis I think my rep can generally be ignored... provided it stays green, of course - I think this means that I generally avoid arguing with people directly, and try to convey a friendly and positive impression.

If I see red bars AND a small number of posts then I tend to avoid them.

High rep points is not a symbol of status. Many people out there can neg rep you just because they dislike your view one time and not because of who you really are. It's sad but true. So judging people to be dickheads with red bars [or low rep points] is not ideal.

Only if they're in the negative/red bars. Otherwise I base my respect/fear on their postcount. Tread lightly around those with thousands of posts, I say. They've been here long before.. they'll be here long after. Cant really say that about the 100-something post noobs who leave after having their argument overturned/topic closed/picture deleted. Touchy emo scumbags. The mods will delete things, GET OVER IT! The people will make fun of you, GROW SOME BALLS/BOOBS! Your argument is weak? THEN DONT VOLUNTEER IT WITHOUT POSTING LINKS TO FACTS!

If they have tonnes of green rep, I probably wouldn't notice. I never look at the number, and most people have the same amount of green bars.

However, if someone has lots of red bars, I automatically presume they are dickheads.

Yeah I agree with that.
