I don't think so. Palin was, off course, a terrile choice for VP and she cost McCain some votes biut in '08, after 8 years of Bush, most independants wouldn't have voted for any Republican.

I disagree. The only reason, or I should say the main reason, is they can't field a candidate that won't shut the fuck up about abortion, birth control, and gay marriage. I personally believe, there are more woman voting to protect their rights, then there are gun owners concerned with theirs. While I know those aren't the main issues on everyones agenda, nor are they likely the most important to everyone, for the past few years, every Republican has wanted to take away womens rights, and they have had no choice but to vote Democrat, even if they were also pro gun.
The Wall Street financial meltdown with W's party in charge on their watch didn't help McCain either.
But the Tea Party hi-jacking of the GOP views did not help Romney either. Romney had to cater to their interest as the most moderate in the GOP primaries with their #1 issue of getting rid of Obama Care. But Romney as Gov. of Massachusetts help past health care for all in that State.
The Tea Party fanatics is what is killing the chances for the GOP to win the President race and the reason you are seeing this year in House and Senate primaries with the GOP supporters rejecting these Tea Party idiots one side our way or the highway political BS.
Tea Party followers blame Obama for bailing the banks out, but it was W who started the TARP Fund talks to save the banks as it passed the 2nd time in Congress when he was in office after the American people on the first vote called their representatives to reject the banks bailout on the first vote with W in charge.

The whole reason I voted for Obama, this was only the second time I have voted for a canidate of the two main political parties for president. My usual take on Republican/Democrat presidential hopefuls is they will pander to the crowd for votes, and once elected do favors for the large campaign contributors. Sara Palin scared the shit out of me, the thought of her being one heartbeat away from the presidency was terrifying.
This country needs a 3rd party because I'm with you as a moderate picking sides.
GOP, I agree with social responsibility by dads and moms. But how do you achieve family values when they favor big business and pay people in real inflation adjusted rates at the 1940's level. Like the 100K plus shop at the shit family dollars, Wal Mart, Dollar General..........more............ and praise that the economy is back like Obama today situation which is nothing but sunshine blown in your ass as he played hope to keep up business as usual. Dem Clinton also.
Since the media profits on this fight a realistic 3rd party has no chance. Unless if all moderates which is 40% of the vote unites and think about the true commonwealth without greed because despite value on how you much you have in money it is a joke. There is already enough for all of us from birth to death.
We just don't see it and big business reversed the anti trust laws from the early 1900's and reverse the lets get our fair share to be at least comfortable labor union.
One sides plays 75% compassion (Dems) and the other play (GOP) redneck blue blood politics keeping one race superior. But they both lick ass for big business like Clinton's China in WTO blunder that gave Wal Mart's SH big dough fucking the American worker.

If the republicans would shut the fuck up about social issues and stop pretending tax cuts do the economy any good I might consider voting for one of their candidates. Reaganomics is a colossal failure and is totally responsible for the ginormous national debt. I'm not saying go back to a 70%-90% top tax rate, but there is room for balance on both sides of the equation that would make everyone happy, let's get back to a sane fiscal policy.
