Do you collect.

i once had a set of bowman. around 98, i was kicking myself. had rookies of salmon, mondesi, and delgado. others too, but now, im glad i sold it for 40 bucks. :)

It's funny you mention that. It has occurred to me many times before that on Ebay I'm buying the collections of people who have given up on the hobby. It kind of gets me down a little bit and makes me think why I'm still in it. I just love the thrill of getting new cards though. New to me at least. I guess I'm kind of a dying breed. I probably have about 15 '88 Topps Ron Oesters for instance, and I would never part with any of them. LOL

Don't forget the thrill of finding the really old packs. That way you can get the old slices of bubble gun that are so hard and brittle now you could cut somebody with them. :1orglaugh

As I start every post now, (lol) Funny you should mention that. I purchased several old packs about two years ago at a sweet price of less than 50 cents a pack. There was gum in two of them. I actually chewed the gum. The first piece was extremely hard to chew and tasted like, well I can't describe it. I spit it out and amazingly, started to chew the other piece. Actually was decent. Now if this puts my posts in a whole new light so be it. I just figured that gum doesn't rot, so what's the harm? LOL I'm nuts.

Video Games: I currently own over 800, ranging from the NES to the DS.
CDs: I currently own over 450, most being hard rock, classic rock, or metal.

I collected a few of the more "grown up", Mcfarlane action figures a few years back (Great KISS "Psycho Circus" set, Jason, Freddy, etc.), but now I'd say I'm back to my main collection- scale model airplanes. I have hundreds of those darn things hanging around.

Luckily, the wife builds the old sailing ship models, so I don't get nagged about having too many.

Other than that, I'm like Egon Spengler- I collect spores, molds, and fungus.

I have two main areas that I collect in... Breweriana and Antique Clocks.

Breweriana is basically anything "Beer" related such as Steins and Taps. Neon, tin, backlit, and scroller signs. Diecast cars and trucks as long as they have beer advertising on them. Labels, unique bottles, blob top bottles, unique cans, cone top cans, and really anything else you can think of. My favorite item is my Hamm's Scene-O-rama waterfall motion sign.

I collect clocks and watches but not so extensively as the beer stuff. Too damn expensive. I took classes to restore old clocks so I can take a junker and make it a jewel. It's a fun hobby. My favorite clock is one I inherited from my grandfather. It's an old Railroad Regulator made by Seth Thomas back in the 1890's. It runs too! I have it accurate to within a minute a month which is pretty decent for an old clock.

Comics (over 8k), dvds (over 400), Blu ray movies (142), toys (mostly action figures (too many to count), porn movies (150+), Marvel Bowen statues and busts (around a 100 so far) and a few other things.

I used to collect porn, but that pretty much ceased recently.

I've always collected books, and I don't see that ever letting up. I have quite a lot of them, and I can't seem to get rid of any of them. I guess I think that I might re-read something for the zillionth time and I dread it not being there. :dunno:

I do the same thing. I think I've read a few of my books over 10 times each.

Books... although I don't mind lending my books out.

also artwork... mostly prints and drawings.

I refuse to lend my books out. No one will take care of my books the way I do. I dread getting a book back and have pages bent, or the spine messed up. Nope, Not happening.

Here Zombie, Zombie, Zombie...
Well I haven't gotten any new pieces in a long time, but I have a large collection of Chinese and Japanese chops (seals). Typically family crests, artists names or sayings that go on prints. Many are hundreds of years old, especially the ones made out of ivory and exotic stone.

Dvd's
Used to collect Sports Cards, mostly football.
I still have over 50 different Emmitt Smith Cards.

I collect shit that I get at work, namely guitar picks. Not all guitar picks I get make it into my collection, though, just the ones that either have the band name written on it, even if it's a band I don't care for, or the ones that I know for a fact it was so-and-so that used them (for example I have a white thumb pick that I saw Joe Walsh drop just before he got off the stage; the Bob Dylan picks that I have don't say anything on them, but they are the only large nacre-colored triangular picks that I have in my collection; Ted Nugent was the only one that used a medium red-, white-, and blue-splotched Fender pick); a good amount of bands use the generic yellow Dunlop picks. Those I usually give away, unless I'm in need of a pick, then I'll keep it. In my collection I have Rob Zombie, Down, System of a Down, Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne, Nine Inch Nails, Train, Lamb of God, Black Crowes, Counting Crows, Green Day, The Eagles, Toby Keith, moe, Daath, Ted Nugent, Shinedown, In Flames, Ministry, Smashing Pumpkins, Jackie Greene, Live, Alice in Chains, Thriving Ivory, Megadeth, Tim McGraw, Brooks and Dunn, Keith Urban, Foo Fighters, Black Eyed Peas, John Melloncamp, Third Eye Blind, Journey, Sheryl Crow, Velvet Revolver, Aerosmith, Thursday, Van Halen, Nightranger, Dropkick Murphys, Craig Chaquico, Jeff Beck, Queen, Jon Scofield, John Mayer, Mark Anthony, and Guns 'n Roses, among many, many others that I can't remember right now. And, later tonight, I shall be adding Bon Jovi to my collection. :)

Besides my picks I hang the set lists of the bands that I like on my wall. I ran out of room, but I have Rolling Stones, Down, System of a Down, Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Jimmy Buffett, Rage Against the Machine, Johnny Lang, Deep Purple, Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, Beastie Boys, The Cure, The Police, Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, Cafe Tacuba, Smashmouth, and a few others that I lost track of.

and . . .

In the days when society wasn't hooked on suing one another for anything and everything, I used to have tons and tons of kegger parties at my parents house (when they were gone, which was often ! ) about 18 - twentysomething years ago.
I'd collect the center cap that covers the area where you screw in the tap.
I'd record a few notes on the obverse side of the cap. The party would be given a rating number . . for instance -

Rating "8" an "OK" party. I might have had a girl that night but didn't get laid.

Rating "9" lots of fine chicks show up throughout the night, but the finest one's didn't stay all night, but the beer did so the "OK" girls looked like 9's at 3 AM. lol !

Rating "10" - Not so many caps with that designation, but there are 'bout ten or so. You could remember how good those perfect parties were, right ? :yesyes:
I have a drawer with about 200 of these "cappers" and I wouldn't part with them for anything. Neat Keepsake ! :lovecoupl

I don't know if this is called collecting, but I do buy a lot music Cd's and DVDs. I also DJ, so I buy a lot 12" records as well.

Collecting, then comic books, and vintage toys from my childhood.
