Do people use desktop computers anymore?

Are you planning on buying a desktop computer in the near future?

The only computer I have is a desktop, so I guess that means I still use one. :D

Though I should probably get a laptop since it will be easier to take with me when I transfer schools next year. Anyone got any suggestions on what kind I should look into getting?

It's just like when someone asks what sort of car they should buy. I might tell you to buy a diesel pickup truck or a Jag XKR... when your budget and needs would better be suited for a Nissan Sentra or somethinhg like that. Without telling people what your needs are and what your budget is, the answer you get will be based on the reason that the advice giver had for buying that type of device, and it may not apply to you at all.

Shayd seems to give the most consistently objective computer advice on here. But even he'd have to know what you'd use it for and how much you can spend.

I have one desktop that I use as a server one desktop at home, five at work. One notepad at work and two laptops at home and a HTC Touch Pro2

Of course. I have more faith in my desktop lasting then I do my laptop due to the carrying around and heat that it produces.

I need a desktop for all of my multimedia applications. Plus I game online through my PC.

Quite true, my friend.

i answered no on the poll cause my computer is awesome and i don't plan on replacing it any time soon, plus it has plenty of room left for upgrades, extra RAM, bigger hard drive, faster CPU, graphics card etc etc...anyway, i only use my desktop since my laptop took a shit on me

I'm poor and I don't even have a lousy cellphone anymore or any mobile device for that matter. The pc I am using is a used 8 year old Dell office computer with only an 18 gig hard drive and a Pentium 3 processor so it's kind of piece of crap. You need money to upgrade or replace shit and I don't have any right now, so I will have to make do with what I have for now.

I answered no a while ago. But last week I end up spending 1K on a desktop. Apparently having 6 cores is a big deal.:dunno: I prefer desktops to laptops, having a mouse is a big reason, no little nub or pad.

I have two laptops and one desktop. All three of them are around 7-8 years old, so I'm planning to buy a new computer pretty soon. I've been thinking I will probably go with a desktop this time because you can get more performance for the money.
