I am in Anaheim and it got me thinking about Disney..... it is ridiculously expensive to get into Disneyland, the restaurants charge almost double in the area, to buy a disney hat is almost $20.00..... how in the hell can a family afford to go these days???? I am not going to Disneyworld since I think it is waaaaay too commerical..........

Am I wrong???? Just asking....... Maybe I should go into Disneyland so that I can do a shoot in the lavatory......

It's even worse in Orlando, Vicky. It's American capitalism at its finest!

Oh....and I can just imagine you in a redo of Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs.....LOL.

that is too funny....... amazing I went to IHOP for an Omelette and it was 13 or 14 bucks!!!!!! IHOPS out of the area charge 7-8 dollars..... I guess the price of eggs in Anaheim is more than elsewhere.......

I'm afraid that this is just the price you have to pay when you want to have the dream vacation of a lifetime. I just went to Disney World this past summer, and I can't even begin to tell you how expensive just eating pizza at the hotel was! These days you're gonna have to give an arm and a leg on vacation destinations like this.

Seems wrong to me... I saw a thing on Oprah about Stephon Marbury putting out sneakers for $15.00...... they could charge so much less but choose not to..... you would think people would just stop going.........

i'm certainly not looking forward to my 3 months of travelling accross America next year, if it's so damn expensive.:crying:

It has never been cheaper to visit America though..... the dollar is so weak. As an example it used to cost 17 pounds to join my site, it is now about 11 or 12.... everything is cheaper for the travelling public to come to the USA.

I was in Disney Land when I was 12 and believe me it was a lot better then than it is now.But I'd still take my kids to it :angels:

It seems like Disney knows you have to take your kids or you would be a bad parent..... so they make you pay for the privilege..... just my opinion......

Neither Disneyland or Disney World hold a monopoly on outrageous prices in and around the locations. All well known vacation hot spots have the very same m/o. We plan ahead, get efficiency rooms with fridge and microwave or more and take our food with us wherever we go.

If you're from out of the country a trip to the outskirts to get some normally priced groceries might work. Going back to room, eat lunch and go back to attraction afterwards. Taking our own water. Otherwise we would never go anywhere. :(

Their just going for maximum profit - like everyone does these days.

I've been going to Florida over the past 20 years and I'm sorry to say that it's not good as it was 10 years ago.I prefer to goto elsewhere in America. But I'm going to New Zealand in August,to see relatives. So the US will have to wait for me next year :D

I never made it to Disneyland when I was younger, but in all honesty I'm glad I didn't. There is no way that place could have lived up to the hype they created for it and probably would have left me disappointed. Better just to go to a normal amusement park where you get shafted at a reasonable markup.

It may be commercial, but when I went there as a child I had the time of my life. I haven't been there since (I was only 5 or 6 at the time) so I would probably have a different outlook on it now.

Ehhh...in my opinion there are probably a lot of places that are better, more memorable, cheaper, and everybody would get more out of it than Disneyland and places like that. I couldn't imagine enjoying myself at that place.

That's how I felt when I was first there (I was 10 at time) I thought it was all amazing. But if I have kids I'd love to take there no matter how dear it is...I'd just have to be bad parent :1orglaugh: But now being 30 I mostly go the US/Canada to ski and get bargains. But I would still go to theme parks and ride the rollercoasters and stuff

We are on track for Recession in America. The economy is a mess, housing and credit markets are like barrels going over the falls...America has become Europe's discount bargain center under our current president. There were many news reports of "rich" Brits and Frenchies coming to New York City to pick our shelves clean like kids in a candy store.

Disneyland, like most long-standing American businesses, has become greedy, petty and cheap as it gained popularity. If you have the time, read "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser...it's a blistering analysis of American capitalism and American culture. Schlosser describes the "dream" of the "Golden Arches located in the Happiest Place on Earth"...and what that means psychologically to us.

Vicky...you should skip Disneyland and instead head to Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park (not far at all from Anaheim). We locals all know that the tourists go to Disney and generally make a mess of the place and the place is good for that So Cal Amusement Park First Date or for kids under eight years old. Knotts has better rides (for adults... not that way, naughty girl), not as junked up by patrons, and has the awesome Scary Farm at Halloween time.

Be careful with doing shots at Disneyland, they have cams and spies EVERYWHERE...I think you can get away with naughty stuff easier at Knotts; I know I did!
