Disney buys Lucasfilm; Star Wars Episode VII due out in 2015

Yeah, this is actually happening. A new Star Wars trilogy, followed by a new film every three years.

I don't know about you guys, but this feels like a kick to the gut. The prequels weren't perfect, but I'd trust Lucas with the franchise over fucking Disney. At least Lucas was content at six movies.

I feel a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. It's the sound of everyone's childhood dying.

Luckily, with the impending apocalypse, we won't have to worry about ever watching these abominations.

George Lucas, why you want to ruin my childhood?

Cause they gave him four billion dollars to let them do it for him.

Yep, saw this, too. I am a bit disappointed about the sequels...how much further can they go?
However, Episodes I, II and III were downright terrible. They could have been so great - they had so much potential. We could have seen the slow decline of someone who could have been a hero as he turned into an evil person. Instead, we got Jar Jar, a kid who could not act, a teen who could not act and the patronizing return of some older characters.

Very disappointed in this. I thought Lucas has messed up with the three prequels which were way below standards expected, and riddled with plot holes and silly mistakes. In the last three movies Lucas dispensed the plot line to show off the special effects at the disposal of ILM. The creation of 'comedy' characters like Jar Jar Binks and exaggerating the characteristics of 3PO to ridiculous levels really spoiled the movies for me. I dont hold any hope for these new ones to restore my faith in the franchise. Lucas has once again cashed in his chips at the expense of his legacy, he did this when he 'remastered' the original trilogy and added totally unnecessary scenes, and then again with the release of the prequels.

Why George, why??

Conspiracy...
I have wanted to see three movies after the original three.

Disney is too big. They also bought Marvel comics.

I am all for Capitalism, but I am against monopolies.

Half of me thinks that they have screwed up so much stuff in Star Wars, in both the prequels and the Extended Universe, with not only the characters but also with the very essence of what Star Wars is supposed to be about that it has a hard time just not caring anymore.

The other half that still likes the (ever diminishing as time goes on) parts of what was great about Star Wars is going, "NOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo".

Great. If people didn't complain about the franchise enough, this happens.

I have no care for the first 3, the second 3 or any 3 that gets released.

I trust Disney much more then I trust Lucas. So far they've done right by Marvel here's hoping they can fix what Lucas has been fucking up over the last 20 years.

This is one of two things. It can be really good or really bad. I'm going to keep a positive outlook on this like I did when Disney bought Marvel. Unlike most people, I liked the prequel trilogy as much as I liked the original trilogy and with "new blood" at the helm of Star Wars, I'm looking forward to see what they produce.
