Well America is great in many ways and horribly overrated in many others. We have an embarrassing amount of obese people. every ad on our tv is for pounds of food for very cheap and made to look far better than it really is. go to france and sit in a cafe and watch the people go by. the only fat ones have a camera hanging around their necks and those are all from the US. Americans ride around the grocery in fucking motorized scooters for fuck's sake.
America is the most confident in itself, but down the list in actual reasons to be so confident. Our health care system is awful even though we throw billions of dollars at it every year, and we now have poverty levels rising faster than those in many 3rd world countries. Our power grid is 30 years outdated and our roads and schools are pure shit. We have 2 political parties, 1 that could care less about 90% of the people in this country and are owned by the wealthy and the corporations and cater to them without regard for those they are supposed to be representing. then you have the other party who wants to protect the criminals and give driver's license's to people who are here illegally, totally dismissing the fact that the word "illegal" is in their status.
The USA is declining. yes we have a great military, but what else do we have that is actually promising? technology is now coming from India and Japan and China. Manufacturing is nearly extinct in the USA. we educate people from other countries and then they take their knowledge back to where they came from which does nothing for us. We wage war against some that we claim threaten us, but ignore others that are legitimate threats. We remove leaders from power that we claim to be dangerous and install a guy we like, even though they are dictators and drug lords and violate more laws than the guy we helped remove. We cry and bitch and threaten to bomb or invade a country because they use chemicals on 1000 of their own people yet we ignore when African tribes butcher millions of people.
The USA has much to be proud of, but most of that is history. Our future doesn't look so great.
