Diabetes (anyone here got it or know anyone that has it?)

My *** had it, I don't know what type he had(I know that's bad) but all I can really tell you is hopefully the diagnoses or pending one isn't too late or else it could be a bitch

They got into shape, and felt better about themselves than ever before.

^ This.

One of my sisters was diagnosed with Type 2 about three years ago. She went on a very strict diet and did a ton of exercise. Within a year, her doctor told her she was no longer diabetic, and said she should really be a poster ***** for how to do this right. :)

Definitely find out if you can control it with diet, that way you don't have to screw with medications. Good luck to you!

The point that I'm not sure if you're getting is that salt doesn't have as much to do with diabetes as does everything else. Salt contains sodium, which affects your ***** pressure, which often affects diabetics (most of my ***'s side of the ****** are either diabetics or pre-diabetics, and most of them have ***** pressure issues), but it doesn't affect your ***** sugar.

Sugars, carbs, fats, and proteins are turned into useful substances with insulin. Insulin is a natural substance that the body produces in the pancreas. When the pancreas either doesn't produce insulin at all (type 1), or the insulin it produces is not of sufficient quality to effectively break down foods (type 2) then insulin either has to be administered from an outside source, or sugar consumption has to be limited to what the pancreas' insulin production can process.

I have a coworker who had diabetes his whole life until about 6 months ago when he had a pancreas transplant. He said he was always able to eat everything a normal person could including **** and fatty, sugary foods, he just had to balance his insulin with his food consumption. One thing that was always obvious with him whenever his ***** sugar got low was that he would become a cranky little bitchbag that nobody could stand to be around.

Usually someone who's diabetic becomes cranky is when they have too much sugar in the ***** stream, whereas if someone has low sugar
they usually look weak and therefore maybe in a diabetic hypoglycemia, and they need sugar quick.I've heard that when diabetics are in a
hypo state anything they eat to get out of it is like many times over the pleasure they get from normally eating a chocloate bar.

Not that you want to be in a hypo state most of the time.Although diabetes sufferers lose their senses of when they are nearing a hypo and
therefore are more likely to suffer more hypoes than younger sufferers.

Well I have an appointment with some chick about my weight this coming Tuesday at the local GO surgery and this coming Friday I've got another ***** test do get done. Then Friday of the week after (5th of Oct) I've got an appointment with a nurse at the local GP surgery to get my feet checked and whatever. I'll bring it up about trying to fix it with diet and exercise before going onto meds. I'll see what they say to that. And no Tartan my ***, I don't go out ********, I rarely touch the stuff. I eat takeaways yes, but not daily. One or two every couple of weeks. I might need to cut that down to once a month or something for a while, see what happens.

Thanks to everyone who responded. Cheers!.

This used to be me before I discovered how to make it stable with low carb. I think the sacrifice of breads and pastas daily is well worth my life because I think someone would eventually throttle me and throw my body in a canal...
