HOUSTON - A Texas death row inmate with a history of mental problems pulled out his only good eye and told authorities he ate it.

Andre Thomas, 25, was arrested for the fatal stabbings of his estranged wife, their young son and her 13-month-old daughter in March 2004. Their hearts also had been ripped out. He was convicted and condemned for the infant's death.

He's obviously mentally disturbed, should a mentally disturbed person be on death row? If he's crazy enough to pull his own eye out its obvious that he doesnt live in the world of you and I, so when he killed his wife and children was he in a state of "normalness" or has he been in this state all along? Thats not a question anyone can answer.

I'm still very much against the death penalty and killing crazy people for deeds they have commited whilst they may or maynot have been "sane" is something I cant be bothered to argue.

Its wrong, by all means lock this person away for the rest of their lives, maybe in prison but in this case I would think a maximum security hospital would do it is the best place for them, because once they are dead, guess what? Their dead like they are really going to give a shit about anything.........their dead! Isnt a more apt punishment for murderes life confined to a extreamly small confined space?

I agree I would prefer a 'quick' death anytime to maximum securty confinement for the next 40, 50 or 60 years?........ Much more brutal punishment in my eyes to die behind bars a pathetic old man.
