****** Cruelty...

what you said about complete proteins is true, but meat also contains saturated fat and many more calories compared to the ratio of proteins found in beans and nuts.

so which is more unhealthy for you, too much of a bad thing or not enough of a good thing?

Simply put **** is fucking stupid. I think that video is irresponsible to suggest that all captive ******* are grossly mistreated and ******. But some of them are, and most people would agree that is wrong and so people should be made aware of that and try to put a stop to it.

The reality of the situation, and a much better way to go about demonstrating their point, is that most people have no idea where their meat comes from, so you really don't know whether it is from a place that ****** ******* or not. Just that whole notion, that we really don't even know what we are eating, is pretty disturbing.

and that goes for everything too. you are very right in your point about pesticides. Whether you agree with vegetarianism or not, I think there are legitimate concerns for all people about the way that the food industry is ran.

Goddammit,now I'm fuckin' hungry.....

If someone were to ask me what I learned from that.. my first answer would be:

I now know cows can moo without their larynx. (or would you call that a braying)

Chicken' are some poor bastards. I'm not really fond of chicken anyway.. it's sorta like the ***** of meat -----> IT HAS NO TASTE! I mean.. it does, but it doesnt. *****, that is. ;)

My second thought:

Call me cruel, but.. I like watching things die. It reminds me of my own mortality and gives me a kick-in-the-ass of inspiration after seeing it. Reminds me that I should be out there living, talking to people, getting educated, doing exercise or something productive!

....but then I notice that my downloads are done and I gotta start some more. Lessee.. Forbidden Kingdom looks awesome. ::click:: Oh hey, a 'masturbation pack' with 36 videos. Right on, right on. ::click::

::2 hours later:: Aw hell, it's gettin' dark outside. Think I'll make myself a manhattan.

I like the taste of meat, but I try not to eat much of it, because I really, really, really don't like to think about where it comes from. I'm not often a hypocrite, but there it is.

I like what LBP76 had to say. That philosophy makes sense to me. I feel the same way about fish. Not much sympathy there. Damn stuff is too expensive though....

I agree. There are a couple vitamins (iron and B-12) that we could use that are more difficult to get naturally without eating meat. But one daily over-the-counter multi-vitamin more then provides enough of them.

My friend Paranoid brings up the most important point: poor people. If you are poor you don't have money for multi-vitamins and you don't have time to even go find them. 80 percent of the population of the world or more HAS to eat meat. It is the most effective source of many many important nutrients (protein being the most relevant). Clearly, if you live in an industrialized country and have time to be posting messages in a porn forum, then you can afford to be a vegetarian or vegan, or buy only organic food or free range.

I respect everyone's dietary preferences, but please keep in mind the big picture. Keep eating organic vegetables but don't expect the rest of the world to do it and don't demand the rest of the world to do it. If we start producing only organic food and free range, we would immediately leave 40 percent of the population of the world with no food.

I agreed with everything that you said up until this point and I then I did a double take. 40% of the world already doesn't have any food, and it's not because of a lack of factory farming and industry. I'm not really going to get into that, because that's kind of another issues.

as I've said before, there's probably a lot more poor people that don't eat meat than you think because it is much more cost effective to grow crops than to raise livestock in terms of the required amount of resources needed to operate compared to the amount that it yields for use. There's also a lot of people that are vegetarian for moral reasons besides just hippies in California- Hindus and Buddhists comprise millions of people.

The majority of the people in the world who do eat meat get it from fishing, because once again, this is the easiest way and most effective way. So they are not effected by a lack of industrialization.

factory farming and industry has only been around for less than 200 years, I think it's remarkably ignorant and egotistical to think that somehow the entire human race would stop being able to function as a society without our modern day lifestyles. Or more precisely that they would stop functioning simply because WE stopped what we were doing, since they aren't even doing it anyway.

calpoon is right.

Plus, It takes over 10 calories of feed (mostly grain) to produce just 1 calorie of meat. It is a luxury in much of the world and is too expensive for the poor to eat on a daily basis.

And as for protein; the average male only requires about 50-60 grams of protein per day. This can be easily acquired by just eating whole grains and vegetables (organic or otherwise).
Most Americans eat far more protein then they need. Which is unfortunate since our bodies turn excess protein into fat.

I'm a level 5 vegan -- I won't eat anything that casts a shadow.

Just felt like tossing in a Simpsons quote.
