Excerpt:

"No one disputes that an on-duty Irvine police officer got an erection and ejaculated on a motorist during an early-morning traffic stop in Laguna Beach. The female driver reported it, DNA testing confirmed it and officer David Alex Park finally admitted it.

When the case went to trial, however, defense attorney Al Stokke argued that Park wasn't responsible for making sticky all over the woman's sweater. He insisted that she made the married patrolman make the mess--after all, she was on her way home from work as a dancer at Captain Cream Cabaret.

"She got what she wanted," said Stokke. "She's an overtly sexual person."

This is one of those stories that really makes me question what little faith I have remaining in our justice system... (Here's hoping it turns out like those assholes who killed that immigrant in PA, and the cops who covered up!)

I just vomited in my mouth.

Anyone but a cop and that would be rape.

Yup, a bunch of jerks covering for each other.

The article seemed to show that the other cops thought he was acting weird and a lot of them had warned him to stay away from the strippers before this incident. And if you're referring to his defense attorney trying to cover up for him, well that's kind of what you would hope your lawyer would do if you were guilty but trying to get out of it.

I'm just surprised the jury bought all his attorney's BS reasons for his actions. But it said 12 men and 1 woman were jurors, but isn't there only 12 total people on a jury?

Completely disgusting.

It's hard to believe that there are people who don't see this as sexual assault. You have to wonder about the mindset of the jury...

What the hell. Now if the woman had not been a stripper he probably would have got nailed.
Just because of a persons occupation it does not give any one the right to act like this.
This guy is dangerous, and will more then likely re-offend or take it to a more extreme level.
Disgusting....

You kinda know what the mindset of the jury was. All they saw was a cop and a stripper. To them a cop is an upstanding member of society while a stripper isn't. The cop should be in jail.

Sick shit. Imagine if she would have some how contracted some kind of disease, would the outcome be different? With the way the economy is in the US, she may have had no other options than to become a stripper to make money. That's like saying, "Oh well, it's ok that the cop got killed while trying to stop a bank robbery. It's his job!"

I do. I was being intentionally ambiguous with my statement. But you are correct.

You also have to wonder – although hopefully I’m wrong in this assumption – how much of a male/female divide there was in this case, taking away the prejudices of her being a stripper and him a police officer. 12 male jury members to 1 female member - seems slightly at odds with a fair jury if in fact gender did become an issue.

But I'm just speculating here.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
A cop friend of mine always said that he had a license to kill. I guess this one had a license to rape. Pretty open & shut, or so it seems.

Park unzipped his pants, took his penis out and got an erection, she explained. "Basically, the officer made me give [him] a freaking hand job and he let me go. I'm so freaked out about it."

(Lucy also told police, prosecutors and the jury that Park had also fingered her vagina and fondled her breasts before he ejaculated on her.)

"I was confused," she told the Laguna Beach dispatcher. "He called me afterwards. I'm scared, you know . . . What's an Irvine cop doing hanging out at a strip club in Lake Forest?"

And the jury had trouble making this conviction, why?

Since the legal system totally failed if someday this cop is found dead on the side of the road I'm not going to be shedding tears for him, especially since their isn’t much keeping him from doing it in the future now.

Exactly. Her occupation should have had nothing to do with it but I am sure it was brought up over and over again

What this cop did is not only unnacceptable and unprofessional, but it is also psychotic behavior and he should be fired before he commits another sex crime while on the job

It's so hard to find anything good about cops. If your about to be murdered and call the police you fear that they will help them. This would be rare, but having that thought in the back of your head doesn't make you trust cops at all.

I just vomited in my mouth.

Anyone but a cop and that would be rape.

Even if it IS a cop, it's rape if she was an unwilling participant.

Well, since it was a jury, and given the reaction of some of his workmates, it hardly seems like a cover up. Wouldn't a cover up have been kept out of court, or the papers? Off the internet? Fact is, like so many other badge-bashing threads on here, we don't know all the facts of the case, because we weren't there.

This is a fucking disgusting act to have been performed on a traffic stop, or anywhere else by a police officer on duty, and even if she offered to do something to get out of a ticket, it's on this officer to say no and possibly even arrest her for suggesting it. If it was his idea, this is a total miscarriage of justice and he should be fired, fined, and subject to humiliation galore.

But to just immediately sneer and say "fuckin' cops" without knowing all the facts is more of the same crap that has been fostered by today's instant-news, shock before substance media.

he is a cop. what do you expect? Disgusting...

Having been one for more than a decade, I'll tell you what I'd expect. I'd expect a man who took that badge to honor the oath he swore in order to wear it. I'd expect him to be able to suppress animal urges while at work, on duty, and performing his job. I'd expect him to do what he's paid to do, no matter how sexual the person is that he encounters.

But for you to lump all cops into one pile with this pervert is insulting to the profession and shows how small-minded and generalizing you are.
