I don't care if she slipped alittle everyone forgets or has to much on there mind. I personally thought she sounded beautiful and good as always.

I was a bit harsh, I guess

By the way: Welcome to the forum, ILJ (Hope the short form is okay with you)

It's just I really love her work, and so, when she does not do so good, well...

I would be glad if I could sing half as good :2 cents:

I just love the super-affected singing and extra hand motions...she actually has the decency to show us how far she has strayed from the original song with her corresponding hand waving. Other singers just don't go that extra mile. Couldn't care less what she says.

Xtina can screw up many times she wants...she fucking looks good in black

Eh, just be glad it wasn't the Canadian anthem. Being American, we have to put up with her sorry attention-seeking ass. Speaking of which, am I the only one here that is just a little suspicious about her having maybe done this on purpose? You know, the old no such thing as bad publicity routine? :dunno: Didn't her last album go like double wood? Hmmmm...

She did the same thing last year...either at the NBA playoffs or finals (I forget).

Me thinks she just doesn't know the correct lyrics. All I know is that she looks and sounds like hell. Christina always said she had "flava". I didn't know poop was a flavor.

Poop.

Every now and again it isn't all that uncommon to see someone forget or accidentally skip a line of the Anthem, but as far as this trend in the last 10 or so years of people adding 1,000,000 extra notes to the anthem makes it sound terrible. Sing the fucking song like it was written. This is not "your" song, its the song of a nation. This nonsense of trying to "make the song your own," as "artists" are often times wont to do ruins the whole thing. This is not about you, or your musical "talents," its about singing the anthem and nothing more. It shouldn't be especially memorable, it should just "be."

This isn't 1983, this is not the Great Western Forum, and you sure as hell aren't Marvin Gaye. If you don't get the reference, Google it. It is the only example in history of an artist "owning" the anthem that even comes close to being acceptable, IMO.

One of the most amazing performances ever.

"sounded great"?

I like Christina, but anymore the National Anthem has become a showcase of unnecessary vocal pyrotechnics.....big whoop.
I don't care that she fucked the words....but she sounded as bad as BEP screeching and wailing....

That isn't music, melody, or harmony

AFK..being taken to the vet to get neutered.
The major problem we have with stars performing national Anthems is that they forget - anthems are about the country NOT about them.

It's understandable, I suppose. They live in a bubble whose circumference begins and ends with them, is filled with them and people who tell them they are the begining and the end of the world, so .....

Perhaps if they started treating their performance as a mark of respect toward the country that gave them so much, they might stop showing off, stop trying to make the song about them and start delivering renditions that so justice to the spirit of the composition itself.

Wow !

1) X-Tina fucked up the lyrics of the National Anthem
2) Black Eyed Peas did the half-time act

I hope the game was worthy 'cause it seems everything else was crap !

I think it was. My team won:)

Though maybe they really should stop having stars do the National anthem it almost never goes well. People bitch about them messing up or the clothes they wore.

As for the halftime shows I think they just have no clue what to do anymore.

But the worst part was when Josh Gordy tried to tie his cleats.

Superbowl XLV was a total blunder to me. The game was as boring as the performances. If I would have known what I know now...I would have started drinking early, instead of waiting for this load of crap!

Go Pack!

And the halftime show sucked, as did CA's awful rendition of the National Anthem. I could find local talent better than her or the BEPs.

I can't stand her screeching singing any way. Just sing the damn song proper. No need for outrageous emoting.

And what the hell was with the football players jumping around, talking, and gawking all around during the anthem? What happened to showing some respect when that song plays?

Hmmm...lets see:

She is a "professional" singer that has made millions of dollars in her career.
She was on the biggest stage for singing the national anthem for the year.
Millions of Americans were watching.
It was her job to know the lyrics.

At some point I wonder if it occurred to her to spend ten minutes actually preparing of it.

Between this and the Black Eyed suckfest somebody in the NFL must have been trying to make all the activities around the game as terrible as possible.

(They should just get the guy who sang the anthem in the last two Chicago games to do it every time from now on.)

Finally! I thought I was the only one on the planet that thought the game was straight garbage. Finally!

I swear, even my dad who's a big time fantasy football guy said it was a great game. I was like, WTF? Rodgers played like shit; his wide outs played like shit. Big Ben played like shit; the Steelers kicker was a joke. And all I heard on Mike and Mike was how this was such a classic. Nonsense. It was a big time dud. :2 cents:

As far as Xtina, she is a just a lame fucking tool. Her handlers put her up to this, I suspect. Either that or the organizers of this freak show that was the SB in it's entirety are complete imbeciles.
