Well my question is, why did they put a ref thats not good enough for the world cup finals, in charge of such a big game.

The Ref had an absolute shocker - you only need to look back to the FA Cup Final last Saturday to compare it to a game that was quite brilliantly managed by the officials.
Terje Hauge was going on about how he maintained control of the game, but there were some absolutely shocking decisions not least the Arsenal goal itself, which was a blatant dive by Eboué (though it pains me to admit it).
It was quite ridiculous that Puyol and Marquez weren't booked after kicking Henry all over the shop, and there was no consistency in his whistle-blowing at all: sometimes he'd wave play on agitatedly after minimal contact, and on other identical occasions couldn't award a free kick fast enough.

The least managers/players can ask for in referees is consistency, it's galling when on the biggest of stages they don't get it.

That said I would admit Lehmann had to go - However the fantastic Ref seemingly doubts himself... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/4993994.stm :wtf:

2 men I choose who I think played The Most Important Roles in this otherwise splendid Champions League Final.

The referee Terje Hauge and Henrik Larsson

Not since Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer for Manchester United FC in 1999, the Scandinavian impact is evident once again
!SCANDINAVIA in My Heart!

CONGRATULATIONS FC BARCELONA

I thouht the ref had a good game. Eboue could have easily been sent off. His booking could have been a red card. He dived for Arsenal's free kick as well as a dangerous two footed challenge. The red card for Lehmann was correct regardless of whether advantage was played or not. As he denied Etoo a goalscoring opportunity by fouling him so he should have been of regardless of Giuly putting the ball in to the net. The best team won. Also not allowing Barcelona's goal helped Arsenal as it meant they didn't have to push forward looking for an equaliser so there gameplan to hit on the break didn't need to be changed.

what?
Arsenal should have won, they were having the better of the game untill the red card.
And even after that they were the better side.
Barcelona realy didn't create any chance except for the chance Eto'o had just before half-time.
Henry could have, should have scored 2-0, and that would have been end of game and Arsenal deserved winners.

But hey, they realy gave it all they had, 200% every single one of them.
Arsenal are champions in my heart, that will never change.

Absolute bollocks. The only reason you scored your goal was because of this man.

Could have...should have...would have...it's meaningless now.

Arsenal lost. Barca won. End of story.
