The Cali/Fla earthquake/hurricane thing is a myth. You have a hundred thousand more chance of dying driving to work today than you have dying in either of those places from either of those afflictions. Same with the midwestern tornadoes, though they don't get as much publicity.
Why? Because FLA and CALI are overpopulated, and between the beautiful weather, the beautiful beaches, the relaxed lifestyle, the high wages, the incredible scenery etc etc etc, if they lived there for a year (with their families) half of America would want to move to those two states. It's just a better life, imo, and I'd say at least 50% of the country would agree given the chance to experience it for a year or so.
So they have to discourage Americans from moving to those states, after all, they are the two most "emigrated to" states in the USA. So California's going to fall into the ocean (doesn't anyone know it doesn't work that way) and Florida will be wiped out by a tropical storm. Sure. Keep telling yourself that
