Pacquiao loses on the cards to Bradley. Seven year unbeaten streak over.

I guess that throws a whole new problem at the chance of a Mayweather-Pacquiao match now.

I have to rewatch the fight, but the fix was in. Now they can avoid Mayweather for another year while they make a trilogy out of this

Olympic boxer Teofilo Stevenson dies

HAVANA (AP) — Cuban boxer Teofilo Stevenson, the three-time Olympic heavyweight champion with a devastating right hand and a gentlemanly demeanor, has died. He was 60.

"The Cuban sporting family was moved today by the passing of one of the greatest of all time," said a statement read on the news Monday night. He died of heart disease, it added.

Considered by some to be the most accomplished amateur boxer in history, Stevenson first won gold in 1972 in Munich and followed that up in 1976 at Montreal.

In 1980, he won his third Olympic title in Moscow, becoming the second boxer to win gold at three separate games after Hungarian Lazlo Papp. Felix Savon, Stevenson's countryman, accomplished the feat in 2000.

As his accomplishments grew, boxing fans began salivating over the prospect of a "fight of the century" pitting him against Muhammad Ali. But Cuba insisted that he not lose his amateur status, and the bout never took place.

After Stevenson won his first world title in 1974, Sports Illustrated ran the headline: "He'd Rather Be Red Than Rich."

Stevenson won world amateur titles again in 1978 and 1986, and was forced to pass up a shot at a fourth Olympic gold when Cuba did not attend the 1984 Games in Los Angeles. He retired in 1988 after Cuba decided to skip the Seoul Olympics as well.

Stevenson passed up millions by not leaving Communist-run Cuba to turn pro, but expressed no remorse.

"I prefer the affection of 8 million Cubans," he once said.

Does anyone remember or, did anyone here watch the fight where Duk Koo Kim died as a result of his injuries against Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini? I watched that fight live and being Italian, I of course was rooting for Ray.

Some may have forgotten the other tragedies that surrounded that fight. Duk Koo Kim died four days after the fight, Ray Mancini went into depression after the funeral in Korea, his mother committed suicide four months later, and the bout's referee, Richard Green, killed himself in July 1983. Sad events all the way around. :-(

Later, because of Kim's death, the WBC took steps to shorten its title bouts to a maximum of 12 rounds. The WBA and WBO followed in 1988, and the IBF in 1989.

Watched that fight round after round. I was and still am a huge Ray Mancini fan loved watching that guy fight. His fights were always wars, exhibitions of heart at its finest. Kim was a true warrior himself it was to bad that because of his unfortunate death we never got to see more matches between the two of them. May he rest in peace but that was one hell of a fight.

Mayweather is a mouthy chump. Dodged anyone who might beat him his whole career. Another poor champion born with gifts but no heart.
