Black History classes now banned in Arizona

if the border was sealed and a military presence there... this thread probibly wouldn't exist. And before one would say thats simply wrong, it's standard operating procedure around the world.

It's not like we don't have agencies and arms of the g'ment who's job it is to protect our borders. We have US Customs and Border Patrol who are in charge of border enforcement.

Does it matter what the name is of the agency or g'ment component who's in charge of border security??

disraction 101, kudo's hm. What we need is an actual deterent like a fence or wall... with a human presence to say " No "and if the federal "g'ment was protecting the borders as they should...........ahhhh why are there 30 million mexicans here?
if the border was sealed(SEALED........ please seal the border!) there might be 30 thousand instead of 30 million, (illegals not legals, liberals always miss this) aliens.

This might be out of context but in my opinion: Kids don't learn to hate from books (heck they barely read anything except youtube comments and txt messages nowadays). So, racism (which is what I assume is what the aim of that particular law) will still be passed on no matter what. Since kids mostly learn about all that racist stuff from parents/loved ones and often only after that do they decide to research on their own (reading revolutionary books and etc). It's education at home that's got to change in my opinion.

Teachers can stop talking about racism, the government can abolish anything that promotes difference between races, but as long as racism is still being taught inside four walls to white, asian, indian, native american, latino and black kids, nothing is really being done.

Push comes to shove, you're probably gonna be hearing kids rebel about a system that is unfair to them for not talking about the things that supposedly incite difference amongst races a few years later.

Yeah well, you apparently don't know what the thing actually says because the GOPer propaganda is that it's just about enforcing laws on the books...that's the spin...not what the statute is limited to.

Familiarize yourself with your constitution and associated legal precedence then read the AZ statute and see if you can find the problem. I doubt you will..but you can try.

Federal agents can be used as can the National Guard. Posse Comitatus only applies to active duty US military forces in Title 10 status.

I still haven't seen a coherent, rational reply that explains why we needed a "black history" class in the first place. History is history, unless the classes were being used to further some other agenda *cough* politics *cough*.

We really need to come to fulfill Dr. King's Dream of looking at each other without seeing color. Classes like this, while probably started with the best of intentions, only seek to keep us from living that Dream and divide us.

You still don't want military doing law enforcement, including immigration enforcement. Our immigration policies do need to be tightened up and actually enforced, but even I'm not advocating M16s demanding your papers everywhere you go.

Americans -- all Americans -- should be well educated into how the African ethic was interjected into the Americas, how African-Americans were integrated into society, and understand the continuing issues as a result of not treating a subset of Americans as equals, allowing them into educational institutions, etc...

Arizona will continue to have Black History month, classes, etc...

Just because we are still much of a "melting pot" doesn't mean we don't study the make-up of our own history -- good and bad.
