But I am looking forward to Choke. It's been pretty low key, it will probably suck and then next week you'll hear that it's great, following the current trend.

I saw this was coming out, but had no idea what it was about. Looks great though! I'll definitely be checking this out.

Best movie so far in 2008? The Dark Knight. This has been a dreadful year for film, actually. Most of the films mentioned--Iron Man, Indiana Jones, etc. are crap films. The Dark Knight is a bold, memorable (yet flawed!) film and the only movie mentioned in this thread thread, thus far, that everyone should see.

I think the new James Bond (Nov 7) could dethrone TDK.

There's a french "thriller" movie that was recently released here in the US, maybe 1 month ago, which I can't remember the name of the film, but it received rave reviews in the places I read reviews. Too bad I can't remember the name!! Boo on me!

The Mist only just got world wide release... I think it deserves a mention. The only horror movie I've seen in the last few years that isn't just torture-porn or a clone. Most people don't like it... But for originality it deserves a mention, and for the ending it deserves an oscar*.

I loved it.

(*Sadly, there isn't a "best ending" catagory :()

I liked it too Dave! Didn't have the "happy go lucky" ending like most horror movies!

Im still waiting on the news of the Survivor movie (not the TV show).

I think that would really translate well as a movie, I thought that when I was reading it. Choke was actually mt least favorite Chuck book, but it was still good by general comparison and it seems like it can be adapted fine. The previews look better than I intitially expected.

I don't want to jinx myself here, but I see the potential for most people to expect another Fight Club or at least to have the comparison in mind, and I think that will curb the appeal of the film, unfortunately.

Take a Hit, Spunker!
The Dark Knight, hands down. Iron Man's a close second.

The Second-Hottest Man in my Mother's Basement
The Dark Knight is the best movie of the year, so far. Simply a great movie. Iron Man is certainly in the top 5, as well.

And guys, can you please be careful about spoilers in threads like this. Warn people and colour the text white if you're gonna reveal anything about a film, especially the endings!!

My apologies. I attempted to name whole sequences with broad titles to avoid this, but perhaps my comment about the ending did cross the line.

There Will Be Blood get's my vote.

That priest kid was one scary motherf*cker!

I actually think the next book to be adapted after Choke is going to be Invisible Monsters, which is my least favourite. I cant see how thats going to be adapted especially with a woman with no face :dunno: but modern make up and CGI can do wonders now.

I dont know what I like better Iron man or the dark knight?

i can't believe nobody mentioned strange wilderness, the love guru or drillbit taylor:mad:

Enough already with the sarcasm, Duke.

I'm gonna see The Dark Knight at the IMAX in Sydney - on the World's biggest screen. None of that 35mm shit. Oh, baby!
