Best Current NBA Player

You don't necessarily have to pick your favorite one.

Sorry I couldn't put a poll on this one. I waited to long after I made the thread

Timmy Duncan, the best player of the past decade (2000-2009)

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
Right now, it's Kobe. In two or three years, it will be Lebron - he is a superb athlete. I'm convinced he could also play linebacker the browns, skate for the Blue Jackets, or bat cleanup for the Indians. The man is an absolute beast.

Shaq would have 0 if it wasn't for Kobe and Dwade.

maybe. i won't argue on that.

Same goes for Jordan if he didn't have Pippen.

:wtf:

i really have to disagree here, buddy.

Jordan, (almost) BY HIMSELF took the bulls from the dark to the shiny victory.

pippen, grant, paxson and company were just helpers.

i guess you're aware he IS the best basketball player EVER, right ?

that title doesn't come free, dude.

it's not because he scores a lot.
it's not because he defends like a lion.
it's not because he took the entire league to a another level.
it's because he's a fuckin' winner: all he wanted, he won it.

please show more respect for him. otherwhise please elaborate on your sentences, mate.

Totally agree I think this sums it up:

I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

maybe. i won't argue on that.

I'm one of the biggest Jordan fans out there.

But Jordan didn't win titles all by himself, it took help. Pippen was an amazing player, and when Jordan retired, Pippen showed everyone he was one of the best in the league. Even lead the Bulls to the 2nd round in the playoffs without Jordan.

Would Jordan win a title without Pippen? Who knows? Maybe the Bulls find someone or get another star in a trade... but I have a hard time seeing those Bulls teams win a title without Pippen on their roster.

no shit.

last time i check basketball is a team sport.

Pippen was an amazing player, and when Jordan retired, Pippen showed everyone he was one of the best in the league.

not even close, my dear friend.

"best in the league" ? c'mon, he was living out of his fame of past jordan years. I remember when michael retires, i still rooted for the bulls... until i realized there was no point on that. Pippen was great and all, but it wasn't one of the TOP stars of the league at that time.

Let's see his numbers when MJ retired (the first time):
22.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.9 steals
top star? nah...
of course, he went to the All-Star game and stuff, but when you have to deal with a shadow as big as MJ, you're nothing.

Even lead the Bulls to the 2nd round in the playoffs without Jordan.

and THAT is enough for someone supposedly as great as him ? pufff....

Would Jordan win a title without Pippen? Who knows?

I do. They do. Everybody does. OF COURSE HE WOULD!
Let's be realistic for a minute: what's the probability to find another Pippen?
pretty high, mate.
what's the probability that MJ won ANYTHING ? pretty fuckin' high. Statictics don't lie.

and you call yourself an MJ fan ?

hmmm...

Kobe is the best player in the league.

Kobe is unguardable. I mean that in the sense that he has too many weapons he can utilize. Shane Battier, one of the premier 1-on-1 defenders in the league, has an entire portfolio on Kobe he studies before games against L.A, and Kobe still lights up the basket. Kobe is probably a top 3 offensive player of all time after Jordan and Chamberlain. He is no slouch on the defensive end either. 7x all defensive 1st team. 2x all defensive 2nd team. He is a shut down guy. Did I mention he is fucking clutch??? And he's a workhorse? The guy was coming off his 4th NBA championship and 1st NBA Finals MVP, and instead of relaxing all summer and enjoying his success, he is practicing with Kareem Abdul Jabaar and working on his post-up game. WHO DOES THAT???? He's a champion. That's all there is to it.

And fuck you if you think Shaq "won" those titles for Kobe. Shaq had zero rings before going to L.A, and they had a few other veterans that had a hand in those titles. Horry, Fox, Harper, Grant, Madsen, Shaw, Rice, Green, Hunter etc. Even young Fisher was a steady leader on that group. 1 guy doesn't win a title. I'm not even saying this as a defender of Kobe, I'm saying it as a Laker fan. Shaq was definitely MVP of those title runs, especially the 1st title, he carried that team, but if you think Kobe's 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists are so much worse than Shaqs 30 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists, you're just being biased and a hater. He led the team in assists for 2 of those championships. Led the team in minutes and was arguably their best defender.

Ha. Shaq won those titles for Kobe. Give me a fucking break.

by the way, nice writing, STDiva :hatsoff:

if we're going to go into the MJ vs Kobe shit... well... i would like to say something about that.

a sneak peek: Kobe is great, yep. Best in the league right now, yes. Best in the past years, yes.
Near Michael in the throne of THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE NBA ? read my lips: NOT A FUCKIN' CHANCE.

but i won't go into details (that is: statictics)...

i just hope you're aware of that.
