Best American City/Worst American City

I am starting this thread because I am thinking about relocating.
I lived in Atlanta for about 9 years and Dallas for six months.
I didn't like Dallas at all. Atlanta was very cool.
Any suggestions?
I'm considering Phoenix, Tucson, Vegas, and Santa Monica.

I'm single (alomst 40, but I look like I'm 30) so I still want to live in a vibrant city with plenty of available pussy.

 :nanner:

SANTA MONICA

The others are all in the desert and full of strip malls.

L.A. has soul. It is twice as expensive as any of the others but it is worth every penny. Plus there are areas not too far from S.M. (and I ain't talkin' 'bout Compton, dog), that are cheaper.

My current U.S. and Canada city top 30:

30. Birmingham, AL
29. Wheeling, WV
28. Cleveland, OH
27. Montreal, PQ
26. Atlanta, GA
25. Dallas, TX
24. Nashville, TN
23. Plymouth, MA
22. Fort Lauderdale, FL
21. Charleston, SC
20. Las Vegas, NV
19. Minneapolis, MN
18. Portland, ME
17. Toronto, ON
16. Denver, CO
15. Chicago, IL
14. Washington, DC
13. Buffalo, NY
12. Carson City, NV
11. Key West, FL
10. NEW ORLEANS, LA
9. BOSTON, MA
8. MONTGOMERY, AL
7. NEW YORK CITY, NY
6. SAN ANTONIO, TX
5. Pittsburgh, PA
4. Seattle, WA
3. Miami, FL
2. San Francisco, CA
1. LOS ANGELES, CA

For me, that says it all. Go west, young man. Follow I-10 until it goes under it's final tunnel and hits the Pacific Ocean and you will be home.

Ahhh there is no Vancouver BC on your list. Surely that is a mistake as it is one of the best cities in North America. LA #1? LA has soul? What are you talking about? LA is a soulless toilet. I hate LA.

Best city: home town Chicago (actually I live in the suburbs now but I need to represent). Worst town: tie between New York, Boston, New Jersey.

As a tourist I've spent a month on either coast, and I have to say the West Coast was by far the best - though I didn't get to check many bars, what with your ridiculous licensing laws and what not.

Vancouver was awesome, probably the friendliest city I went to in N America. And Vancouver Island is a short drive away - some of the most beautiful countryside in the world.
After that Seattle and San Francisco were really good - both with awesome music scenes.

LA from the outside looking in, seemed to be dirty explosion of urban sprawl. I hated the smog there, I actually coughed all week.

But hey what do I know, you got to live there to really get to know a place...

OUCH! Detroit is not great downtown wise, but the suburbs are as good as any place...

Uhhhh, New Jersey is a state:1orglaugh not a city. Plus I lived there for 30 years. While it's expensive it's a great place to live.

I have friends that live in Phoenix and they love it. It's growing rapidly. Vegas is getting to be like those cities in the Northeast, crowded and expensive. My suggestion would be somewhere in AZ or the Carolina's.

For me its gotta be Santa Rosa Ca. and the intire area up High Way 101. Santa Rosa is a great city with lots of nice country side. I was born thier and the area is full of wonderful people. A vary productive and up beat place. another city that is great is San Francisco.

Chitcago-Worst
Milwaukee-Best

I've lived in five states, been to many cities and most are decent, but Chitcago stinks. Seattle, Cincy and Indy are also pretty nice.

*I have not been to Detroit, NY or LA.

Seattle is a very cool place. Rains a lot, though - which I personally don't mind (but many do - which is why Seattle's a nice place to live!).

I'm not sure I'd ever want to live in L.A., though. Just seeing that green cloud as my plane descends...ugh. Gross.

Speaking of which, I had a friend from Houston, TX, who came to Portland OR every summer. Everytime we met up, he'd tell me how he choked coming off the plane, because the air was actually clean.

Depends on your criteria but IMO New York is the best....period. They don't call it the big apple for nothing.

Worst....Detroit in a landslide.

new york is the most vibrant and alive city in the US, maybe even the world. The best nightlife is in NYC because noone and nothing sleeps there.

BEST - NYC
WORST - NYC
It's so big it has everything.

In LA the sky is yellow... yuck.

Come to Chicago, freshwater beaches, 10,000 calorie meals, and wind. It's a good time
