Bernie Madoff Gets 150 Years in Prison

It just came across Bloomberg that Bernie was sentenced to 150 years behind bars. Poor Bernie. Poor, poor Bernie. But hey, maybe with good behavior he can get out in 50 or 60 years. I mean, he'd only be 121... still some good years ahead of him at that point. Right?

Don't drop the soap, Bernie. See ya... :wave2:

I do not understand the benefit of putting this guy behind bars. He's 71 and in good shape. Make him work to provide restitution to his victims. The guy could return millions over the next 10 years.

If I were ripped off by him, I would want my money back. Stick him in jail at night.

Well, that's a good thought. But work doing what?

Investments... seize his assets, create a fund to invest with and pay restitution.

The government is in the process of seizing whatever assets it can find. Hopefully the DoJ is able to find and seize the assets of his whole filthy family.

But that has nothing to do with what Madoff could do outside of jail to make his victims good. There would be no reason to let this fraud oversee or invest the money. A legitimate fund could and should do that. Madoff's trading operation was nothing more than a fantasy. He was not a talented trader. In the last few years, he didn't trade the first share of stock (for clients anyway).Think of him like a doctor who pretended to practice medicine and gets caught. You wouldn't turn him loose to perform more surgeries so he could pay his victims back, right?

Edit: On second thought, maybe he could do some good on the outside. It's being said that some of the money came from the Russian/Israeli mob. Put him in a cage with wheels and pull the cage behind a truck. Drive him around Brighton Beach and let people spend "quality time" with him for $10K an hour. As long as he could be kept alive, he could probably generate $1 million/day. lol

I agree with Ray C... if he were a successful investor they why commit fraud? He's an old man.. he had time to make money the right way.

The brain behind the biggest Ponzi scheme in history. A good bit of the money came from charities and schools that he focused on.

I feel really bad for the people in the 80's and 90's who now find out that they're broke.

His wife is as guilty as he is, IMO. But he's not ratting on her, so her and the kids are still free. But I hope that the government rides her until they take all of her money or she drops dead of a heart attack. Same with his kids and his whore niece who (literally) sucked SEC cock to keep old Unc out of trouble. May they all burn in Hell.

Out of the frying pan....looks like any investor litigation will amount to nowt. Still, in this country there is always the possibility, but it really does look as though the money has gone. No wonder they call it the Nas-dung LOL. (Un)believable.

Justice???:yinyang: You gotta be fucking kidding me!!!!

At least when he gets out, he can party like it's 2159..:partysml:

How about treasury advisor to the British government..?

oh wait, it seems that they can to a perfectly good enough job, robbing us blind, without his help

Doesn't 150 years seem a tad bit over done?

Its like when we were kids, playing with G.I. Joes, making a fortress, and you claimed that the prisoners had to eat their shit.
