I'm inclined to believe you. People were in a flap when Michael Keaton was announced and he made Bruce Wayne/Batman into a relatable and deeper character than had been seen before. Affleck's shown that he has the chops as a director and an actor within his own films and he's no longer a part of vanity projects like that godawful Gigli, so I have some faith that while he may not be what people have grown accustomed to, that he'll give the role his own sense of gravitas and pathos and it will turn out (at the very least) okay.
