not that the reason cause matters that much, either way she's gone...but I certainly hope that the cyberbullying angle had nothing to do with this. Could she have articulated herself better? Probably. Could she have expressed her concern in a less public manner? Definitely. Was she wrong to have concerns? Fuck no.
The math does not lie and the argument that "one person's AIM test is as good as any other" is spurious when you factor in the incidence of HIV in the crossover community, combined with the increased transmissibility of said viz. anal sex. Was she at substantially higher risk if she only engaged in vaginal sex with crossover performers? No. But higher, yes.
Secondly, stepping away from the biological factors, the whole point of this business is to liberate people to make informed decisions about their sex lives. Whether she chose not to shoot with crossover actors, or even thought it in the best interests of her colleague to know about the risk factors around working with a crossover actor, this does not amount to homophobia. And even supposing it did (which I am emphatically not); whose right is it to judge her for choosing who she sleep's with or how she share's her concerns?
Thirdly, no one is justified in attacking someone for expressing their sexual preferences or sharing their concerns for the intended wellbeing of others.
Lastly: it's very unfortunate the way she responded to the ridicule. I really wish she could have risen above the naysayers, and taken more heart in the validity of her conscience and solace in the knowledge of her rights. She made a bad choice, motivated by a narrow view of her reality, her self worth and her options. Some people here are calling her a depressive who broke under the scrutiny, and perhaps this is so, but more than anything she seemed a bit fragile, and ultimately someone looking to be validated and appreciated. She deserved better than what she got from her haters and much better than what she gave herself. The fact that she never got to truly realize her inner beauty is perhaps the saddest part of this tragic story.
Enough with this recreational outrage and villifying. Enough with the ganging up and bullying; playing the victim so you can victimize. Enough virtue signally and shaming. Stop being vicious. Be kind to each other.
