Any Reason for New Madden?

Does anyone still get Madden every year? I can't do it anymore the game doesn't get much better from year to year, the only difference is the players. I think the last one I bought was 08.

I get it off Craigslist, you can usually buy it like 30-40 bucks after people get bored of it, Madden 10 sucked, Im really hoping they add much more to 11. In 10 they actually took away certain features in Superstar/Franchise mode...those assholes.

Yeah Madden is way to repetitive and much of the same. NHL was a lot more difficult this year than last years version, with better improvements. I'll be sticking with new NHLs until that gets to be much of the same and repetitive.

Personally,I stopped buying them after '01.

I noticed that when I rented the '02 version made that defense tougher, and it was a little harder to score and generally move the ball.I liked the franchise mode and I've always felt that the off season wheeling and dealing is what made the game fun. I was at a point that I actually liked doing that stuff more than actually playing games.Oh,and I really hate that there seems to be way less players with a 90 and above rating, but I guess that truly reflects that overall mediocrity of the league.

So to answer your question,no, there is no reason for a new Madden game.

see all these negative posts? its the reason that EA and their "exclusive contract" with the NFL creates bad/boring games.
On December 13, 2004, EA Sports announced it had secured exclusive rights to the NFL and its players' union for the subsequent five years, precluding any other third party from selling a football game using NFL players, teams, stadiums or other licenses. This was recently extended until 2012
This exclusive license has put an end to competition in NFL video games and, some, like Gamespot, have suggested, this gives EA less incentive to maintain quality and a greater opportunity to increase prices
In 2004, Sega signed a deal with Take-Two Interactive in which Global Star Software (Take-Two's low-price unit) distributed and co-published all titles in Sega's ESPN franchise. As a result, ESPN NFL 2K5 was priced at $19.99 the day it shipped (versus the typical new-release price of $49.99). This earned it a wide audience among more casual football fans on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. It was also the first time that the series managed to grab a significant chunk of market share over the competitor, the Madden NFL series.

However, in December 2004, EA signed an exclusive agreement with the NFL for an undisclosed amount of money, making Madden NFL the only series allowed to use NFL team and player names. [2] Comparatively, the NFL signed a similar six year exclusivity deal with Visa Inc. worth $400 Million. [3] EA also signed an agreement with ESPN to become the only licensee of ESPN's brand in sports games on all platforms. This was an immense blow to Sega's franchise in their MLB, NBA, and NHL series. Now free from the threat of 2K's $20 pricing strategy, EA reverted back to charging full price.

there is no competition from other sports companies (like 2K! who made 1,000,000% better football games than rugrats cartoony looking players on Madden by EA) and that competition makes you UP YOUR GAME each year to the fans who want something new, innovative in their games.
its funny how EA is losing boatloads of money every quarter but can figure out why! because they keep putting out a $60 piece of junk called madden with no real new options/gameplay.
LET 2K get back into the ring and you will see madden either start to fold
like they did in 2000
The NFL 2K series was introduced by Sega for its Dreamcast to address EA Sports's decision not to publish the Madden NFL series
or they will finally start putting a GOOD product out there.
I dont play football games on the consoles anymore since the EA exclusive contract because the games are shit! other than All-Pro Football 2k8 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-Pro_Football_2K8 which i beat several times and finally got rid of

The other football game I play is Tecmo Bowl Kickoff on my Nintendo DS. Thats always been a fun game. It does not have the NFL license or the player names but you have the option to rename all the teams and players. Even move the teams to the cities that you like.

The NFL should have never made that deal with EA. I know it was made out of greed. But I still think it was a pretty shitty thing to do.

EXACTLY!..... $$$$$$$$$$$$ rules everything & everyone.:2 cents:

Blitz the league 2 kills madden, its actually fun to play and it has something madden doesnt!!...John madden actually commentating, well its franks caliendo but he sounds just like madden.

I haven't gotten Madden in a few years, but I used to get it every single year.

For some reason, I like Madden 2005 the best.

i just got an xbox and my first madden since 01 and i must say it is awesome a very soild game

Last one I played was back in 2001. I'm not much a sports fan in games. That was pretty fun. Not to mention a friend gave me the game out of the blue. Who was I to say no? Then again the only football game I ever really got into was NFL Xtreme 2. Awesome stuff.

It has been increasingly more pointless to keep up with the Madden series, especially since EA now owns all the rights to NFL games. They make minor changes and roster updates, yet people still buy the new ones year after year.

Agreed 100%. The Madden franchise has had no reason to innovate in 6 years, and hasn't really done anything of substance in about 10. I'd rather play Backbreaker anyway.
