Any evidence for god?

those drugs don't make you see things that aren't already there. they just open your brain up to accepting the information that it is already perceiving unaware, largely in the sub-conscious, but externally as well. they problem is that most people don't go any further, they don't attempt to make sense of that information or reprogram their senses, so instead of a filter, you just have like an open window that blows through and then out. you end up with a trippy experience, but it doesn't really get you anywhere.

I suppose that is enough for some, but I wouldn't recommend using hallucinogens if your goal is just to have a recreational good time.

Calpoon this time unlike the other thread on racism in porn I do have to disagree with you lol.Ever done LSD on any other hallucinagen? Take my word for it you see many things that aren't really there.I don't know anyone who ever did them and didnt have hallucinations. You are right about the doors being opened to the subconcious too though, and a of lot of that is fleeting but not all.And your are right they are too powerfull to be just used for recreation as well IMO.I don't think that religion was just devised by people on such mind altering substances though, although some of the stories sure sound like it.I think religion was something devised by people who saw themselves as an elite looking for something to control the masses.Laws with a much higher authority then mere men.In ancient times it really was very few who had any education and religious ones like monks were part of the educated elite. It was just a way to control the uneducated masses IMO.

I may not have been clear about that. I didn't mean to say that you won't have hallucinations of things that aren't real. I'm just saying the visions and mostly the feelings, most especially people that get in touch with a feeling of out of body spirituality or awareness of the animated (soul) of things, aren't created by the drugs. you can experience these things under normal and abnormal non-drug induced states, it just makes it easier to be aware of it on the drugs.

I do agree with you about the religious institutions, but remember that institutions are just expressions of the things that they represent. Like all things in society they started out as folk or communal rituals and they were later co-opted by the power structure to suit their needs and take advantage of it.

the people that advanced Christianity were not the disciples of Christ, they were the political leaders centuries later, the most fervent of them being previously pagan and christian persecutors.

Agreed.

Isn’t one of the basics of religious beliefs faith, faith in something that doesn’t show itself in a way that atheists would see as being evidence, like god turning up to say “Hi folks, I turn my back for 5 minutes & look at the mess you’ve made!“ So, evidence for the existence of god is only an issue for atheists.

The way I see it is...

1. We were born. Some one created DNA or nothing would exist. Us, animals, the planet, the solar system etc.. Had to come from something. Everything has a beginning.

2. Up to 80% of the worlds population believes in some kind of spirtural religion. Does this prove there is a God? No.. But since Faith is the corner stone of any religion that's a very very high percent of people who are convinced.

3. When science can't explain things they usually make up an answer. ie: "Well.. it had to be some kind of explosion of some kind I don't know" or " Not sure but your great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandmother walked out of the ocean shaking her fins" Science is called science for a reason. When things can't be explained without God's help science needs to prove another way. But.. they just haven't found proof for how long now?

4. I'm not a gambling kind of guy. Really because I hate to loose. I told this to someone before. "You said when we die we are just worm food. That's it nothing more, nothing less". I said "I believe we were put here for a reason. Sometimes not always sure why but God said Believe that Jesus died so that you may live". I told him, "If your right.. I lose nothing. I'm worm food. Say goodnight thats it, IF I'm right and God says those will be sent to Hell for rejecting his Son and not believing, worm food will be the last of your worries". I guess I don't mind losing a football bet or at the craps table once in a while but I guess for me life is too important to put a bet on.

This relates to Pascal's Paradox. http://www.iep.utm.edu/p/pasc-wag.htm

My own feeling is that religion is a cop out. We can't expect to work out how everything around us came into being so we just say "It was created by God"
The trouble with this is-where did God come from?

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
There is no evidence of "gods" existence, therefore I cannot accept it!

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
Here is the one question I have always had about God...

If God has "always existed" as if time did not exist for him, then why did he wait until only 2,000 or so years ago to "show himself" through Jesus? Like, why did he pick that time and that's it? He's never shown himself at any other time throughout history, soooooooooo...:wtf:

And no, "BECAUSE HE WANTED TO" isn't an answer.

Of course he's real, my GF shouts out his name during sex all the time..

I just wish I was there to hear it.

No, the body of Nikki Benz is proof that there are plastic surgeons.

"Now, go ahead and read your Bible, Dennis! And you go to your church, and, with any luck, You Might win the annual raffle, but if you're looking for God, he was in operating room number two on November seventeenth, and he doesn't like to be second guessed.

You ask me if I have a God complex? Let me tell you something -- I am God."

Malice is a good movie...
