Any Car Guys on the Forum?

No problem. :hatsoff:

The challenge of adding turbos is accounting for the plumbing and increased heat. Seems like he got that figured out. Looks like he did a really nice job there. Very impressive!

P.S. I just realized both Bree Olson and Tree-Fiddy are from Fort Wayne. Just so everybody knows how it works, if I make a Gearhead Love Connection, they have to name their first *** after me!

Thanks for the kind words man, it makes all the hard work worth it!!!

And I heard she's from around here, maybe one day I'll meet her!

Sure just basic, nothing like ripping the car off the axle at the first stop sing you come to ;)

Don't jinx me now :)

You're a millionaire aren't you. Or should I just refer to you as Vin Diesel now... You owe me a 10 second care, by the way...:dunno:

Nope, just a normal college ***

I'll care for 10 seconds for you

No. I had a Ranger and a Probe (worst car ever produced perhaps?) and anything that could've went wrong with the g'damn Probe went wrong. The Ranger was just all around junky engineering, IMO.

I don't think you guys get nailed like we do up here in the northnorth midwest. Also the **** up here sometimes freezes right away because many times when we get it we are well below freezing.

We got a wet snow on xmas eve and that **** turned to stacks of ice over night, I can't remember how many accidents they reported next day but I think it was well over 300 just in the metro.

 Why you must be in Minnesota! :D

Just a basic build :D

Riiiiiight.

Nice work, my man. That's the kind of innovative stuff I love to look at when I go to car shows. What have you done with the paint & body so far?

Hopefully this works

I say keep it real, primer and rust.

**** i've been reading this thread and most of has gone over my head, which wouldnt be too bad if i wasnt currently studying mechanical engineering at uni! but i will talk about the only car i have bought, but unfortunatly dont still own, me two friends for our gap went on a road trip round america, they went everywhere but i only got to see the east coast, in a 1983 mercedes benz 300 D turbo diesel, it was trully awful but also amazing at the same time

Thanks man! Gonna pretty much keep the stock body with feed side skirts and a shine auto project rear street diffuser (not a fan of body kits AT ALL) might do a 99+ front end later on down the line. As for paint, trying to decide between the Cyber Grey Metallic that's on the new Vettes and Camaros, or wrap it in a matte black or matte white vinyl

Similar, Maybe? Not sure.

I can pick it up for about 1,000$. The body isn't bad (some repair, but no replace on the body), hasn't run for years and I'd likely drop a totally new everything under the hood. But I get stuff cheap, so other than my time, refurb cost would be about 6,000$.

I think it is a no. Nice car, though.

If you do a first rate restoration, would the car be worth at least $7 grand? I'm not really that familiar with that car or Swedish cars in general. I knew a girl in college who had the wagon version of that car, called the P1800, I think. Can't really remember the car very well (odd for me, I know), but she had a crazy body and that's really why I hung around her.

It's getting hard to find 60's sports cars for a reasonable price (that don't need a helluva lot of work). It may be worth buying just to park for awhile, or until you have the time to work on it. I could have bought a '70 something V12 E-type Series 3 for just around $6 grand back in '93 or '94. It didn't need much work at all. I could have parked it and just watched it increase in value - without EVER touching it. But I didn't buy it, and like the good girls I've known, there's another one that got away. :crash:

Now you're embarrassing yourself :1orglaugh

Well, I've owned at least 7 cars in my life, some of them ****, a couple pretty nice. The Probe I bought I bought with a cracked head gasket (yeah, I know) and everything went to hell from there -fuel pump, starter, you name it - but the car was just so damn clean I bought it, when I was still young-n-dumb. It was an f-in lemon, the only one I've ever owned, and I was still just right at about senior year.

I bought my granny's old '69 T-Bird and sold it for a nice profit and bought the car I drive now, about 5 years ago. The T-Bird was sitting in her garage for at least 20 years when I bought it, it was clean, but those T-Birds were just so damn big.

*ahem*... I uhhh... Don't know what the hell you're talking about, sir... Now! Where's my car?? :dunno:

LOL, the car might be a bit of a problem, I could afford the care

Sounds tight, whatever direction you go. I'm a pretty critical person. Yet, I can't say anything bad about what you've done with that car... or where you're going with it. Make sure to post some pics when you get done. I think we can have pics in our personal galleries here... is that right??? Maybe that's just for OCSM's... not sure.

But now... what ya could do (what I would do ;)), get Bree to pose with the car and I garon-damn-tee you that the pics won't get taken down - especially if she's wearing her FreeOnes t-shirt. :D A public place, like a car show or NOPI event, ya never know... she might go for it.

Got me 1990 CRX DX. It's a piece of crap, but it's been reliable as fuck and averages 35+ MPG still, 20 years later. It's really easy & cheap to repair anything that breaks on it to, a huge plus.

Still, I'm going for an E36 Bimmer this year, most likely a 318is.

THAT, sir, is an EXCELLENT idea!!

Don't ever drive a nice car up here. The salt is possitively ungodly on the car's exterior. My body was superb 5 years ago when I bought it; I washed it regularly and took good care of it, but now the entire bottom is rusted out. It's a painful thing to have to go through. Best to buy a $500 hunk o' **** for the winters because it makes no sense to drive something nice.

Those little things, I tell ya'...I know they are easy to soup up though and sometimes you'll see them all riced out on the roads fast as hell.

Don't worry, I'm in MN. I know how it goes!
