Anti depressant pills + drinks=

Hey everyone,

Off lately I have been having some relationship problems. Lets just say This girl and me are in love but we dont want to be together....lets just say its complicated.

I started having symptoms like...palpitation, abnormal breathing, sweating whenever i thought about her. SO i went to a doctor explained the situation and he prescribed some anti depressant pills. But I also have a drinking problem. So I always have a few drinks before I take the medication. I forgot to ask the doctor if it is ok to take it with alcohol. This is the first time in my life that I am taking medication for depression.

I am just wondering if any of you ppl have taken similar kinds of medication. Does it work well with alcohol?

If you wanna have a good time it's alright.

Seriously though...you shouldn't be taking them if you are drinking all the time.

I wouldnt mix the two.. And I also would address whatever problems you are having with your girl until you are happy with the outcome.. Pills just mask the problem

It depends on what medicine you are taking. Zoloft advises you not to drink alcohol when using the medicine and if you do it may make you dizzy or drowsy. With Prozac it will only make you drowsy or dizzy.

There's one simple rule I was taught from my mom - NEVER drink alcohol with any medication.
It's not worth the tinyest bad reaction to your body.
Good luck with your relationship.

Yeah you are right. I am talking to a counselor and I am confident I will get over it soon(I am a strong man). But until then I need a chemical help.

I have had a couple women that when we were together we drove each other bat shit crazy but we didn't want to be apart.

I am still friends with them and our lives have been so much better since we stopped seeing each other. If you have to force the quiet times, it is time to move on, no matter how much it hurts right now

the relationship is causing you some serious medical issues. Real love ain't like that.

I am sure some here will tell me I am talking out my ass, but you do what is best for you, but read this post a couple times and think about it.

Dude, DO NOT drink while taking any medication period! It can seriously fuck you up and in a deadly way. I have not delt with anti-depressants at any time but from just reshearching your drug it seems like it is a psychoactive drug. Looking into the other drugs in this catagory just as MDMA, LSD, Cocaine, Morphine and methamphetamine. I would HIGHLY stay away from mixing. Here is the link

it's definitely not a good idea to mix the 2 especially in such a short time period. i hope you get everything resolved. depression really fogs up your thinking.

Yeah but tomorrow i turn 30. and my buddies are going to call me and ask me to go out. I guess its nice to have friends. but i am gonna drink too much tomorrow night.

I turned 30 a few months ago had a blast. Have a good time just don't get hammered. Pluse could this depression be stemming from you turning 30? I had a hard time when I was my 30th bday

No do not drink alcohol when you are on medication, any medication. Whilst alcohol and antidepressants aren't the most potent combination, I believe it depends what drugs you are on as to what side effects it might have. It's best to avoid having both in your system at all times. Mainly due to the fact that you do not know how your body is going to react.

from my own personal experience, its not a good idea. if you know you're going to drink, don't take the medicine, simple as that. but don't double up because you skipped your dose. and definitly don't be doubling/tripling up if you're going to drink, unless of course you enjoy blackouts and vomiting and potential hospitalization.

Thats supposed to help you sleep,i think i was on it..But if your drinking that should be your deppression medicine..

I feel your pain,im getting over a broken heart and was a former heroin addict and relapsed and lost thousands of dollars i worked very hard for but i couldnt stand the thought of her with another..You will get over it,just hang in there..Youll be find buddy..
