As you all know, we've been playing around and tweaking the reputation points. I just wanted to give you guys another quick update so when these changes take place, you're not caught by surprise and freak out.

So what's changing?

Due to a lot of feedback, we've decided that to be fair to everyone we need to reset reputation back to 0. The numbers will be changed so it will be a little harder to earn reputation. In addition, everyone that earned tons of My Freeones points due to the new link between the points and rep...your My Freeones points will be set to 0 as well. The upside, you should be able to rep people more often than you are now!

These changes will be happening within the next two weeks.

That's just not right. If you're going to do that you should Just to be fare set all posts back to 0.

I do have some thoughts though -

This reminds me of an exercise that we had in my Psych class in my first year of college:

√ Observe the group behavior when we do this (pinprick) - - >record data

• √ Now hit the group with this stimuli and - - >record that data.

Repeat . . Repeat . . . etc. ad nauseam !


We also did something similar in my marketing / consumer behavior and modification classes lol ! A street dope pusher operates in such a way . . . hand out freebies and before long, the generous, yielding and charitable suddenly own a lot of people.

• C'mon , fess up :1orglaugh this looks like a focus group exercise or some such . . yes ?

• Aside - I don't have any real plans for my points but I guess it looks kind of cool.

• New direction - He / She with the least points wins lol !

Its not fair to those that don't give rep just to give it and to get back. The ones that use the system for what its for, to compliment people for good posts and contributing. Many of us don't just give it as a game. Why should the majority suffer for the minority? I knew as soon as that 'rep' for points can of worms was opened this would happen.

Now you are thinking of taking away post count too? I am sure that won't hurt the , thats hot, woohoo people but some work for their count.

This used to be the best board around.

Didn't rep points just get reset a few months back???? Resetting post counts is a really, really horrible idea. What's the point of keeping track of this stuff if it's going to get reset every few months. :dunno::lame:

It's just a pointless idea to set rep back to 0, and it's plain wrong to set the myfreeones points to 0. I've worked for those myfreeones points, saving them up for something besides underwear that aren't in my size, and now I have to give them all up because of a bunch of whiners? That's really fair.

I agree with LadyLove - obviously a minority is spoiling it for the majority. I don't know who has been giving all this "feedback", but I certainly wasn't asked, and I know several others weren't either.

government is always a government! they always know what people want, and always find the best solution for the populace (did you notice that it was a lot of feedback? it was done for the masses!) they also pass great new laws :1orglaugh ...I wonder if George Bush has a finger in the pie :rofl:

The rep was reset by BNF around 14 months ago, I think.

As for all this rep thing I think isn't right anyway.

First question is, will it still be linked to MYFreeOnes?

The reason I ask is because if it is, then it's still unfair anyway. There are members here that have had to have their names changed or altered for one reason or another. Their MyFreeOnes account that means is no longer linked to their board actions. As for a example, even though I've never used my MyFreeOnes points I might have one day. I had to have my name changed a little for a number of reasons. So anything I've done or archived on the board since that time has not earned me a single point on MyFreeOnes. I know there will be others the same.

So is any of this fair?


Thinking on it, as I said before. Rep started life as a fun, game type of thing when it started. Then it somehow became a real pain in the ass. Memeber fought over it, complained and fell out with other members because they didn't rep them back when they repped them.

So is it really worth all this fuss, IMO no just scrap the thing or actually try to take it back to that fun thing it was and no more.

Even this now has people moaning about it. So why not just left it fun. Except the not quite like it was when people had the millions of rep points for no reason and made the board look a mess.
