I did not like Michelle Pfeiffer as a good Catwoman, nor was Heath Ledger the right Joker material. They plaid good, but they took the roles to places I found no more what they are about.
The Joker, for me, is not that smeared face, and the Cat Woman is not a hyper-psyched, shivering mess. She is a very self-secured, buxom powerhouse. The archetype of the strong woman. As of yet, I do not see that in Hathaway... but I will wait and see how she does.
Selina Kyle... a powerhouse????????? When and where did this happen. Michelle Pfeiffer's portrayal of Selina is accurate. She is far from self-confident or self-secured as Selina, and gains it after becoming Catwoman. Further, she is not buxom. She is a feline-like thief. Being buxom completely goes against her physical cat-like ability.
Also, Catwoman is not physically strong whatsoever, and can quite easily be overpowered, but is extremely difficult to get your hands on (you know... like a cat). Her main strength is seducution, which she uses to get who she wants in a position that favors her both physically and mentally. Let's leave the buxom powerhouse thing to Wonder Woman, shall we?

But Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman was a borderline schizophrenic which the character from the comic books is definitely not; she is a thief, a thrill-seeker, and occasionally a heroine.

I like her and I like this news. I disagree with people who say she can't act (now Natalie Portman, that's another story).
If were're going with actresses in their mid-late 20s, I'd rather see Keira Knightley, but whatever.
Agreement. In fact Halle Berry had a physical resemblance to the Catwoman of Frank Miller's Batman: Year One which was an influence on Batman Begins. As much as I like Keira, I think she is a little flat chested for the role. My favourite catwoman to date is Halle Berry. The film may not have been great, but she was. Anne Hathaway I am not sure about - doesn't seem quite svelte enough for me, but I'm sure they know what they are doing. We shall see.
I remember that's what I thought when I had heard they chose Heath Ledger as the Joker. I was wrong. Very wrong. So now, I'm gonna give Nolan the benefit of the doubt for his choice on this one too
