Ah Shit!

Seagate FreeAgent and I have it for almost 2 years. I also have an eight-year old internal one by the same brand, Seagate Barracuda and it's still going strong which is pretty impressive, to say the least. I don't know why the FreeAgent failed, but maybe I just got a defect. I read that external hard drive had higher failure rates than the internal counterparts. Why is that?

My 1 TB Seagate Freeagent Pro with a little over 900 GB of pics and vids stopped working the day before yesterday. My PCs wont detect it anymore. Found out other people have the same problem with Seagate External HDs. All my other USB connected devices are working perfect on my two PCs.
I have two 500 GB and one 1 TB external HDs from Western Digital which are older. Never had any problems with them.

I'm glad I have back ups of most of the content.
