9-year-old barred for pitching too well

Yeah, here most schools dont have winners and losers because it might hurt the childs feeling, which is a bunch of bullshit basically because how many generations have played games and there are always winners and losers. And its good for a child to lose once in a while if they dont they are going to move through life always thinking they are going to get everything they want, They will soon find out lifes not like that.

Let the kid play goddamit!!!

Someone is always trying to hold someone back from there dreams, it's sad.

heard this on the radio this morning. its pathetic! yes, i let my son win sometimes, but I also try to teach him how to be a good sportsman when he loses.

This is ridiculous. Obviously none of the other coaches have much hope for the other kids if they won't let them even try.

sounds like my little cousin. She pitched 7 strikeouts in a row and the the league president was there. She made her step down from the plate.

Hank Steinbrenner is currently trying to get the MLB age limit reduced to 10 so he can draft this kid next year and finally sure up that weak ass bullpen.

I love this idea. Forced mediocrity! don't want anyone feeling hurt because they might have to deal with a challenge, might hurt their feelings... they should enforce this on the international stage, I want everyone and every country to be mediocre and then we can all hold hands and try and feel better about our mediocrity.

Instead of trying to keep everybody from loosing they should instead properly teach children to keep loosing something like a sports game in perspective and how to cope with loosing since there will be other times where that happens in life.

He's only nine for crying out loud!

Oh give me a break!

At just over 45' for 'Major' Little League versus just under 60' for 'Senior' Little League, the latter matching the pros, 40mph is nothing. It's still under 55mph equivalent.

Yeah, it means kids that don't play well can't hit it. But com'mon! Even I, not a pitcher at all, could throw a 65mph fastball in 'Senior' Little League. Get over it.

Unless at age 9 he is playing on a smaller field? Normally 'Major' Little League is age 9-12, and 'Senior' Little League is 13+ (up through 15 -- 'Big League' is beyond that). In that case, at age 9, he's in the wrong league if he "qualified" like an 8 year-old for a smaller field.

But otherwise, parents should get over it. Let the kid achieve like he should be allowed. He'll run into more competition soon enough.

The only reason this could be a good thing is that maybe he won't blow out his arm and shoulder by the age of 12.

Has nothing to do with it ...

That actually has nothing to do with it.

Unless, of course, the coach has him pitching every game.
Then he's very guilty of negligence in his guardian role.

He should be allowed to play, as normal.
That's actually good for his arm and shoulder.

If he lets it go now, it will actually be worse.

Excellent point!

This kid may be a natural talent at pitching. Obviously the kid is damn good. Him being kicked out is an abomination! He's got skill. If he develops his skill through practice and training maybe he can make it to the pros and the real big bucks! But he may never reallize how far his talent can go now. Worse yet, maybe it's the kids dream to be in the pros and his first experience is some bullshit like this and it'll crush his dream at such a young age and he won't bother to try again.

I hope to god this kid stays with baseball and keeps practicing and working on what he's obviously good at. He still has a chance to take his talents to the top. Hell if anything this should motivate him to try even harder. But the other outcome is possible as well. A god damn shame if you ask me. Lucky this isn't my kid or I'd lay that coach out cold!
