Was King of the Board for a Day
1. I'm incredibly shy in person. Like, really, really shy if you were to meet me. Once I get to know you, I'm plenty engaging, but otherwise being outgoing around strangers is harder for me than having teeth pulled.
2. My family didn't have a CD player or a computer until I was in my early teens. Therefore, I grew up learning how to put the needle on a record in just the right spot, was exposed to everything from big band to 60's and 70's experimental rock, and have a fanatical passion for vinyl. The first computer my family had was an old Apple II; we didn't have internet access until I was 14.
3. I've worn many hats throughout my job history. I've been a line cook, done construction, worked in landscaping, took care of dogs at an animal shelter, was a clerk at a grocery store, interned at an insurance company, worked at a library, done personal training, and now starting to work in physical therapy. I'm a jack of all trades, master of none.
4. (Probably relating in some way to #2) I'm a fairly big Luddite. I think the idea that everybody needs to get the newest smartphone, the newest tablet, or the latest gadget or gizmo when there are perfectly fine older alternatives is ridiculous. I have no intention of getting a smartphone, a tablet, or anything of the sort in the future.
5. I'm fairly fluent in Spanish, having taken 3 years of it in high school and then having the opportunity to practice it when I worked in landscaping and construction (not trying to be stereotypical, but there were a lot of El Salvadorians). I can understand just about everything somebody might say to me, but I'm not fantastic at replying. It's something I'm still working on.
