4 year old suspended for long hair?!

If Julie's boobs aren't fake, then she falls into the same category as the disabled and deformed kids; they didn't choose their situation, and so can't, and wouldn't, be penalized for it, distraction or no. However, someone who chooses to create a distraction can be, whether they are doing so with their hair, their clothing, their clowning, or other chosen behavior.

The parents need to take him to a barber.
Just because the dad has long hair does not mean the kid has to look the same.
When he's older, then he can choose his own style.

I wonder why it is that they will only allow girls with long hair but not boys?

As a veteran of the Great Hair Wars of the 1960s this makes the long hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I thought the hair issue had been settled but apparently not. I fear that this is an escalation of the cultural war. “Back in the day” a person could be picked up by the police for having long hair. Let’s hope it does not come to that but I would not be surprise if it does. Maybe my life experience have made me too sensitive to this issue or maybe not.

There is no good reason to get on this kids case. If they are worried about lice in long hair then the girls should be shored of their locks too. If it’s a distraction the problem is with the distracted not the alleged distractor. Prejudice is not justifiable. Anyway, if I was there I would let my freak flag fly and sing this song.

If this kid was going around whippin his hair everywhere, constantly playing with it in class or going up to kids and telling them to smell it or something then yeah, I can see how its a distraction but I just don't understand how hair on top of someone head can possibly be a distraction. My husband had long (dyed black) hair in high school and no one had a problem with that.. My brother had long hair in middle school and elementary school and no one said shit about his hair. Hell, my 9th grade social studies teacher had hair the length of mine! (total hottie :D) I know it would be easy for these parents to just cut the kids hair and they obviously want the attention and everything, thats apparent and if it was my kid I'd probably just have him cut his hair but the point is, he SHOULDN'T have to. Why can't this school come to a happy medium with the family? Tell him he can have his hair that length but he needs to wear it back in a pony tail or something? Sure it might not look all that great but he gets to keep his hair and the school gets to have 'one less distraction'

It's just another pointless battle that parents feel they need to fight to make the education system "better" for their children. Who here had a mullet when they were four? I did! and I still had one when I was six and seven. My hair was long, my mom let me keep it long because that's the way I liked it. I've even got employers that didn't care much about the length of my hair. Point is, if you're going to bitch about something that's wrong in the school system, the do it about teachers that tear down their student's self esteem, or teachers that have children with 12 year old students, and leave HAIR STYLES to each individual parent's discretion. what the hell happened to all those freedoms people used to have??

Because don't you know? Boys with long hair are trouble! ;)

Wait...so are the bald ones. Guess it doesn't really matter.

Not the least bit surprising this would happen in Texas.

This post is not only stupid, but makes no sense...what town did some cop give you a speeding ticket in Texas?
Still resent not being treated like the queen you are by some serious Law Enforcement in some town in Texas?
Get over it...

Funny that automatically human stupidity apparently orininated in texas.. Like really? texas is just another state, sure it's bigger than all the rest except alaska and it's almost completely self-supporting, but it still has a normal ratio of moronic parents just like any other state

That kid reminds me of myself when I was that age. Back then we wouldn't go to school until we were 5 for kindergarten then 6 for elementary. I was too lazy to get up for kindergarten so I didn't get to cut my hair until I was about to go to 1st grade when I was 6. It looked just like his, same color and length and that wavy. It seems to me that kids are starting school kind of younger nowadays, nothing wrong with that, just an observation.

Since it's a male...

He's a hippie and needs a haircut. :hatsoff:

Cut that hair hippie! :thefinger

I remember back when I was in school. Nobody gave a damn it a guy had long hair. They didn't even think about it.

With what a lot of people have said I could also bring up there are also people out there that have cultural or religious reasons for not shaving or cutting their hair.
