2017/2018 NCAA Football Thread

How about some more chatter here, everybody?? This thread is on life support!

Didn't see too much TV today but I see Iowa and PSU turned out to be a nail biter.
Thought Mississippi State had a good chance against Georgia - instead they got crushed 31 - 3 lol Every time I get a little high on Miss State they immediately go in the tank lol
Surprised Baylor didn't get completely run over by Oklahoma.
Arkansas vs Texas AM was wild! That's one I did see most of.
UCLA will lose for the 10th straight year to Stanford  Coach Shaw absolutely owns Coach Mora. Pathetic.
How the FUCK do my Ducks lose to a crap Arizona State team

First, FreeOnes isn't what it used to be. When I first joined, there was over 80,000 active members. Now, it's a little over 22,000.

Second, of those 22,000, we all know the vast majority is here for porn.

Yeah....what a sad day it is indeed when a porn forum is being used primarily for porn. LOL

FBS week 3 AP top 25. No huge surprises. FSU & Oregon both disappear for the time being. Oklahoma State's home-field loss to TCU was huge for both teams. It looks to me like there are going to be a number of legitimate contenders for the title this year. Besides perennial powerhouse Alabama, it appears that Clemson is not going to go away anytime soon, Oklahoma is back as a contender after a couple of years on the periphery, Penn State seems totally resurrected from the damage inflicted by the Sandusky scandal and USC looks to be the real deal after a few years of insignificance when it comes to title consideration. Up for debate is Washington, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, TCU...do I stop there? What other darkhorses appear to be on the radar? No way do we end up with 5-6 undefeated teams this year, right? Is it too early to even be talking about this?

Honestly, I think at some point the NCAA will have to consider expanding the playoff field to include at least one representative from each power conference. Does the reality of the situation mean that there is no consideration whatsoever for the AAC, MAC, Mountain West or Conference USA? If we have the SEC, Big 10, Big 12, ACC & PAC 12 as participants, how do we add a 6th team to the mix to make it a viable playoff option? Should the field be expanded to 8 teams? Do I ask too many fucking questions?? :dunno:

1 Alabama (52) 1,515 4-0 1
2 Clemson (8) 1,458 4-0 2
3 Oklahoma (1) 1,397 4-0 3
4 Penn State 1,304 4-0 4
5 USC 1,247 4-0 5
6 Washington 1,188 4-0 7
7 Georgia 1,136 4-0 11
8 Michigan 1,088 4-0 8
9 TCU 1,028 4-0 16
10 Wisconsin 1,023 3-0 9
11 Ohio State 1,016 3-1 10
12 Virginia Tech 828 4-0 13
13 Auburn 701 3-1 15

Alabama and Clemson could run the table, but Auburn proved that Clemson's offense isn't worth a shit against a good defense. If Auburn had a decent offense, Clemson would already be out of the running.

Oklahoma and Coach "Oops" have a knack of finding a way to lose one. They've got some tough games ahead, and I think Texas will give them a hard time.

I'm not ready to drink the Penn State kool-ade yet. They've got Michigan and Ohio State back to back. YIKES!

USC could run the table. They have 3 ranked opponents to play: #16 WSU (way overrated), #20 Utah (should be no problem) and #22 Notre Dame (most likely the only team that could beat them).

Washington could also win out. They won't lose in October, and the only real competion will be Stanford or Utah at the end of the season.

Michigan is going to have it tough. They will have to weather the season with their injuries, but it can be done.

Georgia should get to the SEC title game. Only Florida and Auburn could stand in their way, but that SEC title game looms large.

Wisconsin should be undefeated when they face Michigan. That game could one of the best of the year.

Well since "Big Game Bob" ain't there anymore maybe OU will shed themselves of their reputation for choking things up. I just don't think this will be the year. And, yes, UT could ave their shit together enough when they play the Sooners in the Red River Shootout...er, Showdown.

For TV ratings, Alabama-USC would be the dream matchup so let's see how it plays out.

If they lose that QB, it's over for Oklahoma.

Personally, I think Alabama and Louisville are locks (because Louisville doesn't play anyone)

USC possibly, if they don't choke.

And, I'm failrly certain the Big 10 will be represented with either Michigan, Penn State, or Ohio State. The only kink here is if they beat each other up and Oklahoma doesn't lose.

It is unlikely (but possible) we end up with 5 undefeated teams. 5 Teams with historic pasts. If that happens, one will get shafted out of the playoffs and that shit storm will be huge.

Hell, it Saturday has barely even started and Texas and Miami have both already won so I'm 2/3 of the way home! I give Houston a great shot at taking out Temple too and Mizzou is on a bye so it may be a great week after all.

How in the hell did USC lose to Wash State?

I said at the start of the season they were overrated, but that's just pitiful.

^^^^
Missed opportunities, especially in the first half. Key players out with injuries. 80 yards in penalties. WSU dominated time of possession. Darnold had a very blah outing. Playing on short rest in Pullman. And Washington State is a good team led by a very accomplished senior quarterback.

Still, I thought USC would be a powerhouse this year based on them being unbeaten since Darnold took over at QB last year. Now their only shot is to go undefeated the rest of the way, which looks entirely possible based on their schedule.

LSU currently down by 10 to Troy lol
Tennessee gets absolutely buried by Georgia.
Memphis, who beat UCLA, is getting crushed by UCF.
Washington looking lethargic vs Oregon State

LSU currently down by 10 to Troy lol

Make that 17 lolol

re the Vols...

Neyland Stadium has featured its share of memorable moments for Tennessee's football team, but the Vols' 41-0 loss Saturday to Georgia was one of those moments the orange masses would like to forget. It was Tennessee's most lopsided loss in Neyland Stadium history and the Vols' worst home loss overall since a 45-0 loss to Vanderbilt in 1905. Shields-Watkins Field opened in 1921 and was named in honor of Gen. Robert R. Neyland in October 1962.

Anyhow, I'm thinking your Ducks pile on the points next week.

And, the beatdown of the year goes to - Troy! Really, LSU just learned that because you throw a mountain of money at a problem, that doesn't mean it's gonna get fixed. Ed Orgeron isn't a bad coach, but what they paid for him was just stupid, and to take a loss like this to - Troy - that is just embarrassment of the highest order.

And, the "I called it" award goes to - ME! I knew FSU was overrated at the start of the season, but even I can't believe they're this bad. They start 0-2 and barely escape Wake Forest. Uhhggg!

I got this weird feeling Miami is either gonna blow 'em out, or be so over-confident, they let themselves be blown out.

Miami over FSU today anyone? This could be a watershed game it they can do it in Tallahassee. I'm glad to see the game is on this afternoon instead of tonight.

Texas need to take care of business at home tonight against K-State. This will be a big test to see where we are on the road to recovery down in Austin under Tom Herman.

Does a post really count if nobody reads it?? No offense guys but it looks like we're down to a 3-man thread here.

Honestly, you think a Miami win over FSU (this year) would be a watershed moment? Dude, right now, FSU sucks.

I think part of the problem with the lack of participation in here was when Petra decided to create a sub-folder for sports. When you come into the talk section, you see Politics and Religion on top, Redlight District below, and then all manner of porn topics below that. If the Sports folder were moved to the root folder with Favorite Babes and the others, it would get more traffic.

I certainly do. We haven't beaten the Noles since 2009. The symbolism of a win at this point in Mark Richt's tenure would signal a potential changing of the guard in the pecking order in the ACC and would also mean a helluva lot as it pertains to recruiting efforts in the state of Florida. With both FSU and Florida having fallen on relative hard times in recent years it could spell the dawn of a resurgence in Miami's status as the dominant college football power in the state of Florida.

We have a true freshman playing QB. The refs had NC State that game like Clemson last year. We have played one toughest early schedules in the country. Miami has looked good, but Duke missed 4 long balls for touchdowns in their meeting, and averaged will over 5 yards a carry on the ground.
