Athens had it in 2004, Beijing last year. Then tend to mix it up regionally, so Rio or Chicago are the best bet..

South America has never hosted the Olympics. (Latin America - Mexico City 1968 - has). But Brazil, a big country in progress, deserves to be the first South American host. Therefore Rio de Janeiro. If not, Chicago gets my vote.

I can't see it in Chicago, how can we justify hosting the Olympic games in the States when we have a crumbling ecomony and soon to be double digit unemployment.

It's costing London 9.3 billion pounds which is 14 billon US dollars, can we afford it?

Also I though Chicago was violient, was not a 16 year old kid just killed there becasue of gang violience, is that what we really want to show the world.

Also the IOC states that a Olympic Stadium must hold 80,000 people. I doubt, Soldier field, Wrigley and where ever the Sox play hold that many.

Our President has more important things to worry about than bringing the olympics to the States.

The financial burden? Do you realize the tax revenue generated from hosting the olympics? Or how the upsurge of general sales? Hell, maybe this will be the call to action to straighten out the city of Chicago. People don't think about these things. You only want to dwell on the negative.

If he wasn't going to campaign for this, you'd all just say how unpatriotic Obama is for not going. Oh, and for the record, other political leaders are lobbying for their cities, so why doesn't our President get to do it.

Wait, let me guess, you want him to stay here and work on health care. Well, none of you actually want him to pass any health care reforms, so that's a waste of time.

Actually maybe the democrats should pass the bill they want, but they can;t seem to make up their mind about it.

Also it's not unpatrotic for him to stay here and fix the country that he is running.

How is it negative to think how much it's going to got to host the olympics?

BTW Chicago had 510 murders in 2008 and of that numer 229 were gang related
As of today Chicago has 426 murders for 2009.

Everything he does, conservatives say he's doing it wrong. Thought all conservatives would be happy he's taking a day off of "destroying the country."

Trust me, I know Dems are fucking it up on their own. Could've told you they would before all this even started. Funny thing is that a public option has a majority of the general public's support, yet even Dems won't put it in because Rep. won't support it. The other funny thing is, there's no public option and they STILL don't support it. Anyway, that's for another time and another board.

My pick would be Madrid but that isn't very likely. The nod'll most likely go to Rio de Janeiro who is also a very sexy pick and much deserved or Chicago. Hell all four cities are excellent choices this time around so to the winner, congrats from the G-man.

Chicago will win 'cause Obama and his bitch went and pleaded their case.

Watch and see...

I though they unveil the winner at the olympics, so we won't know who won till after the 2012 olympics anyways

They are actually revealing it this month. Tomorrow, if I'm correct.

I think Rio deserves it, and it would be good for South America and Brazil. Chicago doesn't need the Olympics, but since Obama will be there, they are going to get it.

truth be told, the olympics always lose money in both the short and long term.
