Still hate the bat flip. I talked to my dad about it later that night, and he had the same reaction to it. I don't care what race or age you are, there are still unwritten rules that should be followed in the MLB.

I was glad to see the Dodgers eliminated tonight. I don't have a rooting interest in the game, but I didn't want the Dodgers to advance after that dirty slide. Cubs and Mets on Saturday. Should be a helluva series.

I give the Cubs the edge due to home field if no other reason. Agree, it should be a helluva series. In the AL, I don't see KC hanging with the Blue Jays, bat flip or not.

Mets have home field, Jag... :D

Cubs are a wild card winner, not a division winner.

$300 million & still no World Series appearance. Greinke opts out. Is this the end for Mattingly as manager?

ALCS

Toronto in 7. Too much fire power.

NLCS

Cubs in 7. Their pitching should shut down the Mets offence.

Oh, OK. Well, my bad then. I thought they had home field since their record was better (isn't that the way it should be decided? Oh well....). That changes things quite a bit in my book but hey what do I know??

It's going to be a close series. I just think the Cubs have some serious mojo going for them and are peaking at the right time as they so clearly showed against my Cardinals. Still, it's a toss up. Whoever gets the better pitching will win (what a brilliant analysis that is, huh?).

For the NLCS, Newsday and The New York Daily News, two newspapers that I get, are saying that ticket prices for the games at Wrigley are going on average for $1,223.52 while games at Citifield on average are priced at $815.97. Tickets in the "Pepsi Porch" in the rightfield section of Citifield with a face value of $55.00 are now priced at $375.00. It's because of the New York and Chicago fan base and their teams being playoff deprived for such a long time. It's better to just watch the games on TBS.

Well, so far, it's the Mets. Arrieta looked like a #3 or #4 starter last night. Not an impressive outing. Cubs have scored a total of 3 runs in 2 games....that ain't gonna get it. Perhaps a return to the friendly confines will step their game up a bit. However, with deGrom going against Hendricks, you have to once again give the edge to the Metropolitans. Sounds trite but game #3 is pivotal....I don't see the Cubs bouncing back from a 3-0 deficit.

Barry Zito has announced his retirement today ...

... without him the Giants get eliminated in 2012 by the Cardinals four games to one in the NLCS. He pitched the game of his life during that game five of the NLCS. His line for that game:

7 2/3 innings, 0 earned runs, 6 hits, 6 strikeouts, 1 walk.

The Giants ended up taking the series in seven games.

Thank you Mr. Zito. :hatsoff:

In a first in MLB post season history, Blue Jay reserve infielder Cliff Pennington had to pitch mop up in a 14-2 KC win. Starter R.A. Dickey only lasted about 2 innings. In a 7 game series, you always take an extra starter to chew up some innings in an extra inning game or a blow out. Buehrle should have been on the post season roster for such a game.

I agree. The Jays' lack of pitching depth is seriously exposing them in this series. I won't say they're dead just yet, but they are definitely on life-support.

Where's Mark Buehrle? His regular season W-L record was 15-8. He threw 198 2/3 innings, had a 3.81 ERA, 32 starts, 4 CG (led AL), 214 H allowed, 22 HR allowed, 100 R allowed, 84 ER allowed, 91 strikeouts, 33 walks (included in this total are 4 IBB). At 36, he's four years younger than R.A. Dickey. And he hasn't announced his retirement. Nor is he injured.

Bottom line: You have to blame the Blue Jays Manager John Gibbons here because he sets the ALDS and ALCS rosters beforehand. Since he's effectively ignored one of his best pitchers during the 2015 regular season, Mark Buehrle. For the ALDS, grant it, John Gibbons didn't really need him. However, Gibbons should have activated Mark Buehrle for the ALCS.

This series is over tomorrow. Royals take this thing in five games, 4 games to 1.

John, I agree 100%. They said they were worried that Buehrle's fastball was down on the gun. Screw the gun-as a matter of fact, get rid of the guns!! (radar guns I mean) Buehrle never depended on the radar gun. He pitches to contact, never walks hitters & can work out of trouble. With Dickey, if he's on, he's on. If he's not, it's BP.

I'm not sure Gibbons is entirely to blame. They said this was a management decision. I think they panicked over Buehrle's last couple of starts. Also, they aren't hitting. Good pitching beats good hitting. When your #9 hitter Goins has more RBI's than your # 3 hitter (Joey bat flip) you're pretty much fucked.

You're Right Jagger-their bullpen has been brutal in the post season.

He goes deep (406 feet) very near to Murphy's shot

Cubs 2 Mets 2 end of four innings.

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
KC's bats are just fun to watch. Even in the ninth of Game 3, Toronto had to be thinking "oh no!"

Geez, forget the "Goat" and the "Steve Bartman" -- more like the Leon Durham "play" -- similar to the Buckner "ball gets away from" ....

Terrible fielding by the Cubs last inning. Mets grab the lead, 3-2.

Marco Estrada was absolutely brilliant in a Toronto 7-1 win today. He gave up a single in the 4th & nothing until a solo shot & single in the 8th. His fastball topped out at 91 mph. So, take the radar guns & slide rules & stuff 'em geeks.
