Looks like Atlanta's commitment to rebuild has taken another step. Huge pickup for the Padres at who-knows-what kind of a price.

I don't see anyone ready to take the division away from them this year although I think Pittsburgh and the Cubs may present a bit of a challenge with the Reds and Brewers being dark-horses.

Good analysis....but I'm thinking this is Pittsburgh's year to finally win the division. But whichever of the two teams comes out on top it should be a heck of a race
Not seeing the Cubs, Reds or Brewers having any shot to beat the Cards or Bucs. The Cubs will be better but I think they're still a year or two away.

Looks like Atlanta's commitment to rebuild has taken another step. Huge pickup for the Padres at who-knows-what kind of a price.

Hats off to the Padres franchise for really going after it. The Dodgers are still favored in that division but I think there's some value in betting against them making the playoffs.

the Braves already Designated Carlos Quentin so he will be a FA soon as i do not se him going to the minors
i all so think the Cubs are at lest one more year away from being truly dangerous

I like the washington nationals to win the world series, I don't like the indians that much, so I like the royals to win their division and baltimore wins the al east, the usa today likes the seattle. Mariners to win the al west, let's see how the season unfolds

I'm still questioning having Samardzija start opening day. He's not bad, but he's not the type of pitcher I want on the mound on opening day.

That was because of Sale's injury he was tabbed to start.

Sale will be back Sunday vs the Twins though.

Plus Samardzija went 6.1 today with 4 ER.

After he was pulled in the 7th with the score 4-1 Royals, the wheels fell off after a ground ball easy third out went under both of Ramirez and Johbson glove that lead to the Royals scoring 5 more to put the game out of reach.

With all due respect and you certainly could be right, Red, but the reality of it is that it's only one game. The Astros shut out the Indians and beat the reigning AL Cy Young winner last night too. I don't think either team is going undefeated so let's see where they are in September and then we can make some judgements about the relative excellence of their general management as this year's squad is concerned. I would agree that Beane has a penchant for getting the most out of his players for sure so I wouldn't discount them.

oh i know it's one game, last night they couldn't cash in on a bunch of early opportunities and lost 3-1, i just find it funny that the Angels, and Mariners are crowned favorites, and the A's got picked fourth in the division.
