Now it's time to call Brian Cashman to see if they want a replacement for Tanaka.

Molina out for 8-12 weeks with a torn thumb ligament. I'm afraid that may be it for the Redbirds....how can we win without Yadi? Devastating. :(

Quit your fucking crying. You're going to Milwaukie with them losing 9 of 10 capped by a 4 spanking by last place Philly. Nut up and take over first place. I hate those fucking Brewers.

What'd you make a fucking clubhouse speech to them before the game last night? Down 6-0 and we come back to win it on a HR by Holliday in the 9th?? Are you fucking kidding me???

Make another one today, Bob. You may have finally found your niche as a motivational speaker.

OK so now we're tied for first after another pitching gem by Waino (plus we hit the shit out of their rookie pitcher). If we can get out the broom with Martinez on the hill tomorrow, we'll be in great position to continue to contend for the division title as we go into the final 2 months of the season. Cruz was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI today so I sure hope he can keep up a semblance of that type of hitting as we go forth until Yadi can come back cuz we sure will be missing him in oh-so-many ways.

The Met radio the announcers started talking about the standings and how they were in the same position during the 1973 "You've gotta believe" season. Did these guys forget how many times we've been in this position and came up with shit? It's nice going into the break on a high note but all too often they start the second half cold as ice. And don't let the 35k at today's game fool anyone. The had a $14 baseline seat promotion and Huey Lewis concert after the game.

Wainwright threw Jeter a meatball and he's catching shit for it. Boo hoo ESPN. Didn't Chan Ho Park give Cal Ripken a cookie in his last All Star Game? Denny McClain threw batting practice for Mantle's 535 to pass Jimmy Foxx. Now they have something to talk about besides Lebron James for the past fucking month. Remember Kruk vs Randy Johnson?

Wainwright explained later it was a bad joke when he said he grooved the pitches to Jeter.

Truth is, Wainwright was pitching on 2 days' rest and shouldn't have been on the mound to begin with. Terrible "homer" decision by Mike Matheny (no pun intended).

Now, the Dodgers can blame the Cardinals for not having home field advantage during the WS.

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
Enjoyed what I saw of the game last night. Thought John Farrell did a good job of getting as many in as he did and tipping the cap to Jeter and Minneapolis.

Angels acquire closer Houston Street from the Padres, looks like they are going to try and win now

Hardly surprising considering they are only 1.5 GB Oakland for the division title and 9.5 games ahead of elimination in the WC race. With all the money Moreno has poured into this team and considering the fact that Pujols and Hamilton are on the verge of serious declining production, this might be their only real chance to win with this group of players. Street is a nice addition and I like their team. Mike Trout has developed into the closest thing to Mickey Mantle that we have seen since....well, Mickey Mantle. Wouldn't be surprised to see them make another move or two. It's now or never for the LAA of Anaheim I'm afraid.

Sandy Alderson put the word out. If the Mets do well on this 10 game road trip he'll welcome them home with a gift. By well I'm thinking 8-2 otherwise Sandy holds his fire sale.

Pucker Up Butter Cup.
this is the kind of Cardinals baseball I want to see. Milwaukee is free falling faster than Tom Petty.

The Detroit Tigers avoid sweep behind a strong start from Drew Smyly. - Torii Hunter hit a two-run homer, Smyly threw seven solid innings and the Detroit Tigers avoided a four-game sweep by beating the Cleveland Indians, 5-1, at Comerica Park. Austin Jackson had two hits with a walk and scored one run for the Tigers, who snapped a four-game losing streak. The Indians had scored 20 runs through the first three games of this series, but Smyly held them to a run on four hits. He struck out six and walked two.

Note: In the Detroit Tigers long history dating back to 1901 the Cleveland Indians have never swept a four-game set in Detroit ...

Detroit Tigers trade rumors:

As the days get closer to the trade deadline, the Detroit Tigers have yet to make a trade in order to help improve a bullpen that makes Tiger fans like me hold their collective breath. The addition of San Diego Padres relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit could be a move that could help Tigers fans exhale. General manager Dave Dombrowski has been on record saying that the Tigers are looking to add a pitcher in the bullpen to help stabilize it and what better than to bring in a familiar face like Benoit.

Right now, the Tigers currently have one of the worst bullpens in baseball with closer Joe Nathan being the highlight and not in a good way. Each week the trade deadline gets closer and closer and sooner or later Dombrowski will have to pull the trigger and make a move.

Hopefully he is aiming for Benoit.

Wow....that is hard to believe. 113 years and never a 4-game sweep in Detroit?

I was tickled to see the Cardinals take 2 out of 3 from LA with the starting pitching matchups we had against them. Damn-near swept 'em except Matheny's continued overuse of Rosenthal once again gave 'em the winning run in the top of the 9th. And batting Kottaras ahead of Jay at the 7-8 spots against Greinke?? Classic overmanaging, Mike. Kottaras should be hitting 8th no matter what. Matheny has some kind of hard-on for Jay for some reason. Hard to understand. Jay is good, not great, but a solid outfielder, good baserunner, .294 hitter....and he's hitting fucking 8th???

Why is it that every time I post the Mets lose? Saturday they let the worst hitting team in baseball slap them around for 6 runs and Sunday their 3 total hits tie the game only to have the pitcher trip over his own feet fielding a ball in the 9th.

and the Giants are so desperate to add someone anyone that they signed the recently released Dan Uggla batting a robust .162. i'm appalled by this move as Uggla has been in decline for 3 years. and a decent player they had in the minors Tony Abreu took this personally and opted out of his deal, hell Brandon Hicks who's younger by 10 years is the same player as Uggla, low average some pop, they should have just promoted him instead
