i think little boise st gets the oil checked early this year...nobody is taking them light anymore..i think v tech puts them in check right of the bat....i hope im a hookie fan that night:wave:

Boise State 31

Virginia Tech 21

What will be the excuse and retraction after this happens? "Oh, well, if Boise St ever played an SEC team...blah blah blah...."

:horse:

I think there are quite a few intriguing Nonconference matchups this year.

Cal v Colorado in the "2010 Coach's Hot Seat Bowl" :flame:

Oregon State v TCU = ***** potential

Oregon v Tennessee

Georgia at Colorado late in the season....interesting scheduling there...

USC at Minnesota Sept 18th
After uninspiring victories over Hawaii and Virginia, Lane Kiffin will suffer his first loss as USC's head coach at the hands of the Golden Gophers.

UCLA at Texas September 25th
The Longhorns got their asses handed to them in a home and away series with UCLA in '97 and '98 - expect them to exact their revenge emphatically against the still rebuilding Bruins in Austin.

Nebraska at Washington Sept 18th
This should be an interesting matchup to see where these two seemingly back-on-the-upswing programs stand.

I think whoever loses the Boise State/ Va Tech game will be under the radar the entire season, forgotten about, and everyone will be like, 'Wow, I didn't realize they were 10-1'

These are all mis-match blowouts Bodster :thefinger Nobody wants to watch any of those games...:1orglaugh They'll all be over by halftime..I do remember Rout 66...maybe the single greatest bruin game since the 1950's?

Even with Gomer Pyle calling the plays we will destroy the Gophers...surely we will "somehow" get a win with Lame Kiffin

Lust

Lost at Birth
Miami @ Ohio State

Penn St @ Alabama

Boise St @ Va Tech

I gotta agree with Baill on this, especially the Penn St vs Bama game. The series between these two is classic. I'm looking forward to this one. I don't know why but I'm just not much of a PSU person, so Roll Tide!

Penn State & Bama series

I'm looking forward to the V Tech vs Boise game. I guess I'll be in the minority cheering for Boise but I really think Boise has played some great ball for the last few years and deserves some respect. Unfortunately if Boise wins people will shrug it off as unimportant and if Boise loses people will treat it the exact opposite saying see, Boise is over rated. The only thing I actually don't like about Boise is that ugly smurf turf and I actually like and follow V Tech...regardless Go Broncs!!

I also agree on the Buckeyes vs the Hurricanes as being a game to watch. I think The U is on the rise but they still have to rise a bit more cos I see the Bucks winning this one and I'd like to see The OSU go undefeated into the NC game. so, Go Bucks!

Of note.....Texas Tech at SMU. SMU is the alma mater of Craig James and I'm guessing Craig James isn't much liked by those Red Raiders in Lubbock.

Nadine's Beauty College vs Bubba's Barber Vocational School should be yet another interesting game as well.

I disagree. Texas will wear UCLA down but it will still be a good game to watch to see how Texas is developing under their new QB.

With Suh gone, Locker returning and the game in Seattle I expect the Huskies to give the Huskers a good battle.

The only blowout game will be Minnesota crushing USC
Senior QB Weber is going to make Kiffin cry like a little girl :thefinger

I do remember Rout 66...maybe the single greatest bruin game since the 1950's?

Definitely the single most dominant game, and Ricky Williams was on that Texas team

I'm sure most of the posters in this thread have a personal memory of at least one of these games. For me it was #46 ( i was pulling for the winner!) and # 42 ( i was pulling for the losers) I know #20 should stand out for me but i wasn't even born yet. "The band is on the field!"

ESPN's House of Pain - 50 games that broke a lot of hearts

As fate would have it I was playing in a poker game with a bunch of Golden Bear alumni while watching #20. Needless to say they were way beyond ecstatic. Arguably the most bizarre, remarkable single play in college football history :glugglug:

Ha ha.
Titsrock does not want to be reminded of #42 :nanner:
How the Trojans lost that game is a total mystery :wtf:

No, the answer is: John David Booty. Probably the most overrated QB ever to play at SC Post Marijuanavich (and I liked Todd Marinovich :crying:)

We should not have stuck with John David Booty when we realized he was an undersized statue who couldn't complete a pass beyond 15 yards. But because he had the rep of a "5 Star recruit" from whichever "High School powerhouse program" we basically were stuck with him. We should've benched him and gone with Sanchez.

I fear USC is doing the same thing with this complete myopic devotion to Matt Barkley :weeping: My SC sources say Mitch Mustain is outplaying "The Chosen One" and it isn't even fookin' close....

If Marinovich didn't get involved with drugs, alcohol, and parting he probably would have ended up at least as a pretty decent quarterback. His talent ceiling was a lot higher than Booty. Unfortunately, those things were more important than football, or anything else in his life for that manner. Growing up with an overbearing jerk for a father who was probably one of the worst sports parents ever probably didn’t help him either.

Agreed, back in the 80s and early 90s, that was a great yearly OOC matchup. Looking forward to the game.
