Tennessee Titans sue USC and Lane Kiffin over Kennedy Pola hiring
July 26, 2010

The Tennessee Titans are suing USC and Coach Lane Kiffin over the hiring of offensive coordinator Kennedy Pola, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean newspaper reports.

According to the report, the Titans contend that USC and Kiffin “maliciously” interfered with the contract of Pola, who was hired by USC on Saturday. Pola had joined Titans Coach Jeff Fisher's staff in January.

From the report: "The lawsuit was filed in Davidson County Chancery Court and it claims Pola breached his contract with the Titans after being induced by Kiffin. Pola, hired by the Titans in January, was hired by USC over the weekend as the school’s new offensive coordinator.

"The lawsuit states 'as a result of USC and Kiffin’s tortuous conduct, Tennessee [Titans] football has been damaged in an amount proven at trial.' ’’

Pat Haden's law degree just might come in handy :helpme:

:confused:I suppose the Titans could use someone with a law degree...Here's a novel concept...sue the guy who breached the contract.:dunno:

^
No. No. Just have Lame Kiffin at the top of the suit. Perhaps Mr. Haden can use this (silly) lawsuit from the Titans as grounds to terminate Lame Kiffin and spare the university the inevitable program implosion that Lame Kiffin will inevitably be orchestrating down the road...

I have some thoughts about the name of that game.

You know, you call it 'Football', but you play it 99% or so with your hands.

Whereas the REAL football is being played, You Might have guessed, by the actual feet of the players of what you name 'Soccer'.

I recommend we fix that and you rename your version of ballplay, to, say 'American Handball'.

Because there is an actual game of Handball, already.

Strange new world, strange new games :1orglaugh

well if Michigan State doesn't win at least 3 of the first 4 and 4 of the first 6 it will be a long season. hell the should win 6 of the first 8

I hope the young man can get his life back together.

Word on the street in C-bus is that several former players including: Chris Spielman, Chris Carter, Eddie George, Kirk Herbstreit have reached out to offer counseling and support in turning his life around.

Maurice Clarett returns to Ohio State as student

Maurice Clarett, one of the most infamous figures in Ohio State football history, yesterday failed in his attempt to make a low-key return to campus.

The former star running back - and former prison inmate - began his first day of classes in Ohio State's second summer session. He was quickly recognized, and OSU media relations director Jim Lynch said he received so many calls about Clarett that the school ended up releasing a statement.

"This is a surreal feeling to be back at Ohio State in such a supportive environment," Clarett said in the statement. "I have looked forward to being back in school, and I'm doing my best to fit in with other students. I don't want to be a distraction or nuisance to the football team or to students on campus."

In April, Clarett, 26, was released from the Toledo Correctional Institution after serving about 31/2 years of a 71/2-year sentence for robbery and weapons convictions.

In agreeing to the early release, Common Pleas Judge David W. Fais assigned Clarett to serve four to six months in a dormitory step-down center on Alum Creek Drive. Prisoners sometimes are allowed to leave the center for a job or to take classes.

At the April hearing, Clarett told Fais he planned to finish his college education and run a fitness center for geriatric clients.

Ohio State's student database lists Clarett's major as consumer and family financial services.

Clarett's defense attorney, Michael Hoague, declined to comment last night.

In 2002, Clarett had a stellar year as a freshman for Ohio State and helped lead the Buckeyes to a national championship.

OSU suspended him for the 2003 season after he was charged with filing a false police report.

He attempted to enter the NFL draft in 2004 but lost a court fight to do so. Clarett then publicly charged Ohio State with committing NCAA violations, helping lead to an investigation of the football program. The NCAA found one violation, that of a booster giving $500 to former quarterback Troy Smith.

Clarett was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2005 but was released during training camp. He hasn't played organized football since.

His convictions stemmed from a chain of events that began Jan. 1, 2006, when he robbed a couple at gunpoint outside a Downtown bar and ended Aug. 9, 2006, when he was arrested wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying four guns in his car.

Mr. Nice gallery
Iam pulling for my Florida Gatorsit is going to be a intersting season without tebow spikes and hernandez players like that I still think we are the best team in the SEC East we probably will be playing Bama in SEC championship game again

I dislike UT so much that if I managed to step on their program I wouldn't even scrape it off the bottom of my shoe to give it a proper burial but why would they want this basket case back in their program??

Bryce Brown leaves as he lived at Tennessee: Without a word

Not that many Tennessee fans were still holding out hope for Bryce Brown's return after the former blue-chip recruiting coup abruptly left the team before the start of spring practice. But for those few still holding out hope that Brown's continued presence on campus would lead to a moment of epiphany with a full choir singing hosannas to ol' Rocky Top inside his confused, 19-year-old head, Tuesday was the day the music died:

Running back Bryce Brown has left the University of Tennessee without leaving any closure behind.

"Bryce left town without a face-to-face request (with UT coach Derek Dooley) for a transfer," a school official told the News Sentinel on Tuesday evening. "There's still no news on where he wants to go."
[...]
"I said (earlier) that I was open to Bryce coming back on the condition that he wanted to unpack his bags and put his heart into this program," Dooley said. "I fully expect Bryce not to be on our team.

"The reason it has continued on is because Bryce has not come to me, looked me in the eye and said I want a release to so-and-so school. At some point, that's got to happen."

It has to be said that skipping town with only a text message in your wake is a very Bryce Brown thing to do. Whatever was playing in his head, it never seemed to be "Rocky Top": Besides the hype that inevitably comes being the No. 1-ranked prospect in the nation, the story of his recruitment last year was always less about where he wanted to go to school than the sheer weirdness of his personal situation. He is the only five-star recruit from Kansas who went on fasts, delayed his decision until months after signing day despite finishing high school early enough to have been a spring enrollee and agreed to be fronted by an obese former rapper who at one point considered sending Brown straight to the CFL without going to college at all. (Turns out the money north of the border wasn't good enough.) His arrival in Knoxville last August was accompanied by a recruiting probe that put his eligibility at risk less than a week into practices. And because he had no personal presence whatsoever in the media (other than a press conference to announce his signing with UT, I'm not aware that Brown has given an interview or made a public statement of any variety in the last two years), there is no solid evidence that he ever really wanted to be at Tennessee or anywhere else.
