One of the things I like about Boise State's coaching staff is that they do more with less. They actually coach people and make them better. At most big name schools the strategy one way or another just comes down to recruiting better and more talented people than the other team has and using better and more talented people to beat said team. It's sad when a coaching staffs job at most places, especially the head coaches', has morphed from coaching people to becoming a glorified charismatic PR guy that can stroke the egos of players they want to play for them and some assistants they want under them, assuming they just don't hire their friends.

If I was a player and wanted to get exposure and the best chance at the NFL I would go to one of the big name schools (Although thankfully, that's slowly changing.) if I could be a starter. If I wanted to actually learn to play football better and hone my skills I would go to places like Boise State.

This should probably be posted in the NFL thread buy my boy TOSky threw a pretty awesome party the other day in Miami...atleast by the looks of it from these pics :bowdown:

I'm guessing Romeo Romo probably didn't get on the Guest List

I kinda like the hat that TOSky is rockin'. Wouldn't mind adding that to my wardrobe....

I hate to say it but it is going to be hard to be the TIDE this year... But I still go for them DAWGS.....

bama lost key weapons on defence...thats gunna hurt, but the offence should be better and faster, i look for ingram to be a target which is going to take pressure off julio jones and hes going to finally show why he was so talked about in high school

I love Rivals, but I hate the way they do thier rankings.

Every other recruiting site has Cal ranked ahead of UCLA, but rivals gives the Bruins the advantage based on volume more than talent.

I like Rivals too :)thefinger) because they seem to be a bit Pro-Trojan. ESPN seems Pro-Florida. Rivals give SC Five 5star recruits. ESPN gives us 2 and Florida 6 or 7  and CBS/Lemming didn't even have a Florida player in the Top10 when I looked at them a couple days ago...

Who the hell do you believe? :dunno:

cal and ucla cleaned up with the LB recruits  which is a need we needed to address and didn't really. We did sign a top JC LB, but only 1...

If we can't find 2 stud WRs out of the talent we signed than something is rotten in Denmark.....

A smart but completely useless gesture. USC has had 2 high profile fuckups (OJMayo and Reggie Bush). Joe McKnight probably would've done something dumb if he stayed another year--thankfully he's gone. However, these are not systemic problems within the team. These are high-profile, embarrassments but individual cases.

There really won't be any sanctions levied against USC, not in this financial climate. USC draws eyeballs. Money wins in the end. :dunno: The NCAA probably will take away 5 scholarships--they may take away Wins and a National Championship which would be university embarrassments. Ruining Reggie Bush's reputation as a college athlete might be the scalp that the NCAA "gets." That's really it. In the end, Mr Henderson will be a Trojan because, probably, of the congo line to the NFL that USC creates every year. If this was really a concern for this player or dad they would simply go to another school on the list, right?

Not in one year. You can't just drop a coach in and win immediately. Saban had 6 losses his first season in Bama? It took 2 years for Big Game Bobby to turn Okie into an NC power. It took Pete Carroll 2 years to turn SC into a power--the NC came in season 3.

I think Nick Saban could duplicate the success at BSU, given the same variables that Coach Peterson operates under.

I think it would be interesting to see if Coach Peterson can duplicate the success he had at BSU at a "traditional power" program. Dan Hawkins and Dirk Koetter weren't able to duplicate the success...

smoknn refuses to acknowledge that Cincy's coach fucked them over before the BCS game versus Florida. The Gators won when Brian Kelly left for Notre Dame. I think Cincy would've given the Gators an actual game if Brian Kelly was there and there weren't any distractions. How much of a distraction has Urban Spotlight Queen Meyer been? Not much apparently...it's business as usual in Gainesville. :wave2:

I think Boise State's coaches don't get a lot of credit for what they do. They run a creative offense and they installed a completely different 3-4 defense/pro-style defense in the downtime between the Fiesta Bowl and that defense completely baffled TCU. Credit Tennessee for recognizing what the Boise Defensive Coordinator did and they snatched him up. I'll be watching Tennessee's defense next season to see how it stacks up against the SEC powers....

i dont think cinn could have beat florida this year if they had 4 coaches and a spare. plain and simple they was out of their league to start with

^Hmm. It makes no sense from a sports standpoint. If Texas did jump it would be the shock of all shocks, and I would BOWDOWN to the Big10/11.

It would be amazing if Texas went, but I don't see them giving it serious consideration.

$240 million a year in Big 10 network revenue BEFORE you add Texas media markets makes sense.

Right now Northwestern is getting about twice as much in conference TV revenue as Texas gets.

That's what makes sense.

Actually I think it will be Nebraska, West Virgina and Rutgers.

WVU and Rutgers would be a good addition, but I think Pitt would be good too. So why not make it trifecta by stealing three away from the Big East lol

I would think Nebraska's rivalry with OU, Mizzou and CU is pretty damn lucrative seeing as how old it is. and the historical nature of the OU rivalry would certainly need to be kept in tact if they moved into another conference. it just wouldnt be a college season without an OU Nebraska game. but you make a very compelling argument with tv revenues.

here look at the monkey!

may as well go ahead and make those super conferences which then makes a playoff system reality. of course, i may as well win the lottery too.

for pac 10 i guess Utah and Boise? i dont know how much the coaches would go for it though. AD's would certainly go for it cos its higher revenue. but look at how much Osborne fought an in-conference playoff. maybe coaches have come around to how much that extra revenue can contribute to IPF or stadium expansion etc.

one thing for sure, there's going to be more confusion before we get to the direction of clearing things up.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think Boise St has the academics to get into the Pac-10. I think Colorado/Utah or BYU/Utah would be a better fit. Although, doesn't BYU refuse to play on Sundays???

Mark Schlabach: Revised 2010 Top 25

College football's underclassmen have declared for the NFL draft. Incoming prospects have signed their national letters of intent.

There's no better time to update the Way-Too-Early Top 25 for 2010.

Say hello to North Carolina and BYU, which weren't included in the original top 25 released on Jan. 8, the day after Alabama defeated Texas 37-21 in the BCS National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl.

Say goodbye to Stanford and Navy, which could very well return to the top 25 when we revise it again before the start of the 2010 season in September.

Georgia Tech, which lost four of its best juniors to the NFL draft, moved down the poll. Florida State, which signed one of the country's best recruiting classes under new coach Jimbo Fisher, moved up.
