2010-2011 NCAA Basketball Thread

Looks like Tom Izzo will stay at Michigan State as the head skipper for now after speculation that he could be the next jead coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers; Izzo made the smart move by not ******** on the fact whether LeBron has any intentions to stay in Cleveland this offseason, and it doesn't hurt that Michigan State has a potential Final Four team once again this upcoming season.

Bad news for Northwestern basketball fans: NU foward Kevin Coble has decided to forgo his senior season, and plans to graduate from Northwestern in December with a degree in political science. This comes as a huge blow for the Northwestern basketball program this upcoming season, and no one knows how they will be able to position themselves to punch their ticket to the Big Dance in March for the very first time in school history without the presence of Kevin Coble.

Looks like Michigan State is gonna start the upcoming season without guard Chris Allen - it seems that he was unable to meet the expectations that Tom Izzo set in order to remain on the team, thus resulting in his dismissal. In time, I'm sure that MSU is still a Final Four caliber team without Allen's services.

Anyone else hear about this?

I think it's great news! :)

I knew you were too good to be true. A Duke fan, really? We may agree on baseball teams, but we're really far apart in terms of college basketball.

You cut me deep, Jinxy. You cut me real deep. :(

Boiler the Fuck Up!

I guess it doesn't come as a surprise when John Calipari is caught in a middle of a recruiting controversy. Kentucky prospect Anthony David is rumored to have received $200,000 in exchange for a commitment to UK basketball, though that report was later pulled from the local media. Something tells me that Calipari may be getting his hands dirty once again.

Very discouraging news for Purdue basketball; senior forward Robbie Hummel is out for this season due to a torn ACL in practice this morning, and it is likely Hummel will seek a medical redshirt year soon.

I just heard from one of the managers of the Purdue basketball team that Robbie Hummel tore his ACL in practice today. He is once again out for the season. It's Premium Link Upgrade on our local paper's website already. You gotta be fucking kidding me. The Boilermakers are no longer contenders for the Big Ten championship, let alone the national title.

I feel so bad for the ***. He worked really hard last year to come back from a back injury and an ACL tear. It's terrible to see it happen again. I'm going to go cry now. :(

I just heard the news.Bro,I'm sorry to hear that.that has to fuckin' suck in more ways than one.:(

Yeah. So if you're scoring at home, Purdue has now lost the following athletes to ACL tears this year:

1. Robbie Hummel (2x) - Starting F, Men's basketball team
2. Robert Marve - Starting QB, Football team
3. Ralph Bolden - #1 RB, Football team
4. Keith Smith - #1 WR, Football team

I don't know what else could happen. We really can't get any lower than this.

EDIT
Irony:
On the front page of the sports section yesterday was an article about how Rob was eager to return to practice and be with the guys. It talked about how he was coming back from injury and was working on improving every day. FML.

Damn that's like the Madden curse:rolleyes:Lets hope nothing else happen.

More Purdue pile on but Gene Keady just signed on to be a consultant for Slick'em Steve Lavin and St John's....

Can Hummel maybe come back for the Big 10 tourney? It seems rash to say he's gone for the season :dunno: Was it a bad tear? Was it a bad surgery?

Knee injuries are terrible. This not only sucks for him from a personal and team standpoint, but it also ***** his NBA prospects. But at least they get a whole season now to prepare being without him. Who knows, by the time Big Ten season rolls around, they may be clicking just fine.

All right, first game of the year. My Purdue Boilermakers. vs. The University of Indianapolis in exhibition play. My aunt has season tickets and could not be there tonight, and since I'm her favorite nephew, I get first dibs at the tickets. Woo hoo!

One of my buddies was going to get tickets as well and try to sit near us, but they're sold out. I couldn't believe it. We're playing the Greyhounds, how the fuck is this game sold out? It looks like Rob's injury hasn't put a damper on expectations. It'll be great to be watching basketball again.

Boiler Up!

The half-court buzzer beater makes its first appearance this season:

Lots of more unpredictable moments to come later this season.
