The hits, and the physicality of the game are a large part of what make it exciting for me. And, in my opinion, fighting takes away from that. Get your team and the fans on board with a great big freaking check. Make your front line just destroy the defense, and take the penalties if you must, but don't drop the gloves. That's silly.
