Dr. Phil

Is Dr. Phil a real and caring psychologist or a evil fat guy who drags disturbed people in the TV-show and make some money?

IMO, all TV psychologists are mainly attention whores, who will say or do most anything to remain in the spotlight. And if I'm not mistaken, Phil McGraw has a PhD and isn't a medical doctor. As long as people are straight on that, that's fine. But I think some people believe that he's a medical/clinical doctor.

I don't know that much about this guy. So I can't say that I really dislike him. Dr. Drew Pinsky, on the other hand, now that creep I really can't stand. I think he's a "real" doctor. But I wouldn't let him write me a ************ for aspirin. He's a bigger attention whore than Dr. Phil, IMO.

I thought Dr. Phil had an education in psychology.

Certainly interesting fellow this Dr. Drew Pinsky. ;D

Seriously speaking, it is a bad idea to go to the TV to tell the problems.

Reputation goes and people will laugh.

I think that's correct. But he has a PhD., he's not a medical doctor. Just like if I went back to school and got my PhD. in Economics, I'd be Dr. Rey. I think Oprah should give me a TV show! I could do personal finance mixed with (bad) relationship advice. Come on... gimme a shot, Oprah! :angels:

My issue with Phil, and all the others, is that they seem to have found a way to make very good livings from convincing people to air their personal issues on national TV. I think it's all about making money through pop psychology and entertainment. If they really wanted to help these people, I don't understand how making them perform in a circus sideshow helps. If my doctor asked me to sit in front of a mic and camera so we could discuss my medical issues in front of the world, I'd probably drop him with a right hook. But since he's a pretty healthy boy close to my size, what I (really) mean is, I'd cuss him out as I walked out the door. I ain't shtoopid, ya know. :D

I can see a benefit to some people watching a particular show that may have similar problems. Just for some basic advice but eh, tuff call but ya, I'd say its for money and ratings.

^^^ OK, I can see that. :hatsoff: Maybe I'm too cynical. But I'm thinking that benefit is largely coincidental and the producers just want people to watch and $ponsor$ to pay up.

Thanks Will.

Its typical of reality television. one quarter truth with 3 quarters garbage. Oh, one quarter is being generous. :)
