And it's too bad because I was really enjoying how Hot Mega was toying with his opposition in this thread until one began with a "red Herring' issue to cover up the Factual/Intellectual beat down they were taking.:1orglaugh
Clearly a case of losing a battle on the FACTS so someone resorts to flaming ,across a couple threads here ,by calling someone a 'Poser', Fraud" & "Faker" & harassment about a posters personal information.
I hope this thing can get back on track because I was really enjoying the discussion & sincerely learning about some huge Reagan myths.

What beat down? Intellectual factual beat down? I countered every argument he made.
As for his military claim he brought it up, but he can't back it up.

Similar topic, I watched the HBO doc on Reagan the other night, pretty well done, showed the good and bad.
I think because the discussion has apparently gone beyond a poster disagreeing with another posters opinions & degenerated (By one) to name calling "Poser" , "Fraud" ,"Faker",etc......
Plus unsubstantiated accusations about another posters personal life or behavior (military service) & it's constant & across a couple threads.
That's too bad because I was really enjoying. I hope the discussion can get back on track without the name calling & personal accusations about another that someone knows nothing about.
That seems to be posters strategy when they are losing a debate. They purposely try to 'blow up' the thread.

girk and for anyone else following this. The only way to prove past military service is for you to know who I am (and my SSN) and then for me to post something EVERY service member gets upon discharge and the only way you can get one is upon discharge from military service, my DD-214.
Which is a document that shows among other things; my name, ssn, rank upon discharge, what type of discharge (honorable), every ribbon or medal I was ever awarded, last duty, address I was discharged to, years of active service, etc. Barring that, nothing you could post proves military service.
This document is what every discharged service member would need to produce if they ever wanted or needed to take advantage of any benefit of military service subsequent to their discharge (VA hospital, loans, education, etc.). Anyone who's ever served in the military knows in your last few days of service you can't wait to get your hands on your DD-214.
That's the only way you prove you were in the military. Someone relaying a rank, branch, duty location, etc. proves nothing but they may know or have looked up correlating information about such things. And in the context of this discussion with the other guy would have only served as the diversion that is has become to his 'failorama'. As we've seen countless times just in this thread even black and white proof means nothing to this guy. He must live in an anechoic chamber or something.

:1orglaughBut back to the thread topic. Reagan busted PATCO and while PATCO was in an immensely strong position of leverage being as that there aren't many others doing what they do....their problem....the FAA had/has no competition.
So Reagan's move wasn't as bold as it was costly to the airline industry. The FAA didn't suffer...they have no competition and the airlines suffered loss of revenue as evenly as the marketplace would otherwise have them suffer.
I know. It's fucking impossible to 'prove' any damn thing on the internet without just flat out telling the person exactly who you are.
I have at least 2 close relatives who recently retired from the Army(joined in the mid 80's ) & I could have made a single phone call to them & got their duty stations & rank within minutes & ****** it off as my own.:dunno:
I haven't served & would NEVER EVER be compelled to fight these intrusive Wars like Iraq,but I could have gotten that info within minutes & what the hell would that 'prove'?
I think most every one realizes that who served in the military was fairly irrelevant to what was being discussed.It only served as an oppurtunity for some to get off the discussion at hand which is unfortunate.
