Build your own computer

I build and upgrade my own computer. :]

Though sometimes I need a little help, I can do most of it by myself. I'm much more competent using the computer than fiddling around inside it ;O

We should all post our specs here too, so we can compare the size of our penises! (and my metaphorical one)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Dual-Core
GeForce 8800GT
4GB RAM (2x 2GB)
500GB Hard Drive
Average sound card.. sound blaster something-or-other + average speakers
Samsung 20" Widescreen Monitor
Non-flashy computer case
Windows XP (I have Vista but i'm not switching over before a service pack!!)

xx

Don't build them, but I can install very basic parts despite being a computer retard.

I'd rather someone who knows what they are doing do it for me though.

Your specs are higher than mine. I like my computer, it's the second one I have owned and was new. The other one was a floor model it is still working, I bought it in I believe 2000. It is a 1999 IBM Aptiva.
I should have taken a class a long time ago to build computers.
Even though I probably could learn how to build them myself.
I just haven't taken the time to do anything yet.

forget buildin your own windows peice of **** just buy apple style 10/10 reliability 10/10 cost 8/10 and it wont need upgdadeing every 10 minutes

Can you mod a Mac? That's what some people like to do. ;)

Look at Ebay, you can make good money building and selling computers.

i built my first computer myself, back in 2000. i started buying the parts 1 by 1 due to not having enough money to buy a whole machine at once. over time i learned a lot of things about PCs and i'm glad i had to do this- i can laugh at retard best buy sales people that have no clue what hey are doing (or selling), and i never get ripped off by dells and HPs of this world.

my current specs:
MSI K9N platinum mobo (S939)
athlon64 4600 oc'ed to 2.8GHz
2GB OCZ RAM
asus geforce 8800GTS 320MB
soundblaster audigy
410GB total storage
linksys wireless card

all in a lian-li PC65B which i modded with an extra 120mm fan in the top panel (there was a hole for an 80mm but bigger fan=slower spinning fan=less noise) and a 470W vantec powersupply.

oh btw, you can mod macs just like regular PCs... just remove the electronics from the case and go nuts!

I built my last three PCs.

Specs of my current desktop:
Antec case w/ 450W PSU
nVidia nForce 590 SLI board from a company that I'm never doing business with again. (The board is great. The BIOS engineers are not.)
AMD Athlon X2 4600+
Crucial 2GB DDR2
XFX Geforce 7950
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
Seagate 320GB SATA2
Plextor 16X dual-layer DVD burner

Not really, it's way harder to upgrade a Mac than a PC. And it's impossible to build a Mac. With trial, error, and Google since Windows 95 days I can build computers with ease now. My current setup is slow for today's standards, but I'm waiting for some more Vista upgrades until I build my next hi end machine.

Pentium 4 3.4gh 775 with big Zalman cooler
MSI 915PNeo2
1 gig ram (forgot which brand)
Drives are all WD
500 gig hard drive
200 gig hard drive
2 250 gig hard drives
320 gig Mybook external
LITEON DVD-RW drive and DVD-ROM drive
Sound Blaster XFI Extreme (awesome for music)
6600GT 128mb graphics card
Logitech G15 keyboard and G7 mouse
And an 600 or 800 watt power supply (forgot which brand)
All packed in the greatest case ever, the Thermaltake Armor
Some extra LED's and an 18" Samsung LCD with sound reactive lights on it
And Logitech Z-5300 speakers

I think I have everything. I'm not a gamer, but the Logitech gaming keyboard has macros and lights while the gaming mouse has rechargeable batteries and a 2000dpi laser so I'd recommend those to anyone.

I love those G15 keyboards... the macros are awesome, first thing I did was to write a Macro that downloads all jpg's in the gallery thats on display :) Now I seem to be running out of external drive :rubbel:

Am I stupid in thinking why the hell do you need 1.52TB of space? :P

I can build my pc. After a friend broke mine with a screw driver I decided I'd learn how to do it and not let incompetent people try.

AMD 3.6+ Dual Core
2 GB RAM DDR2 633MHz
160GB HDD
GeForce 7600GT
