The Death Penalty

Been as sick as the person you are *********.
(That is the person issuing the death sentence.)

Being "human" is not a grace of birth but rather something that is taught to us. We are born *******. When a dog mauls a ***** we put that dog "down". Like wise, the death penalty is simply removing another ****** that preys on others. Hence the phrase "Homo Sapiens by birth, Human by choice".
This is just another thought about the death penalty; wheather or not it is applied justly is another matter altogether.
While it is noble to have the higher morals on the death penalty, one must always remember that not all other members of society are as socially evolved. Some just view the rest of us as "prey".

I suppose this is my view. If you can commit a crime so grievious as taking someone's life in cold blooded or thoughtless (gangbangers) ******, then you veto your right to life. Why should you be able to sit in jail, cashing in on your right to live when you so coldly took that right away from someone else?

I know I may sound cold hearted on some issues, but there are just some crimes where the guilty shouldn't get to breath another blessed breath.

Dran right, you take a life you sould have to give up yours.

I think that if people who believe in the death penalty should be elligible for it.

me? naw. I don't beleive it in.

So the judge who gives out the death sentence on that person should also be given a death sentence too by another judge and so on. Great way of ending the human race as the last person has to commit suicide, as there is no one left to punish them for taking the life of another.

Handing out the death sentence makes you just as bad as the person in the dock. Plus it is something you can't undo when new evidence comes to light proving the person innocent. Hence why Britain got rid of it. As there was too many cases that they had ****** a innocent person.

I'm not sure that reasoning stands up. By analogy, the judge who has a criminal imprisoned for unlawfully holding a person prisoner against their will is also deserving of jail time.

Judges are given special authority by society to decree punitive measures that others are not. There is a difference between unlawful imprisonment and incarceration that is the outcome of a fair trial. The same distinction applies to ****** and capital punishment, whether one agrees with the death penalty or not.

His statement...

Dran right, you take a life you sould have to give up yours.

Which rightly breaks down to a person taking the life of another should there for have his taken. Which is exactly what the judge is doing, so there for should live by the same law/rule.

But again I'll ask this question I always ask when these threads start...

Isn't the person issuing a death sentence just doing the same as the person in the dock who ******** someone. That been ending a life?

So IMO makes them no better than the person in the dock. As they have the same mind set to be able to do it.

Exactly....if it is wrong to take a life then IT IS WRONG TO TAKE A LIFE. How do any of us differ from a killer when we, in turn, **** the killer?

The lyrics to this song by Steve Earle illustrate this very poignantly....

Billy Austin

by Steve Earle

My name is Billy Austin
I'm twenty-nine years old
I was born in Oklahoma
Quarter Cherokee I'm told
Don't remember Oklahoma
Been so long since I left home
Seems like I've always been in prison
Like I've always been alone

Didn't mean to hurt nobody
Never thought I'd cross that line
But I held up a filling station
Like I'd done a hundred times
The *** done like I told him
He lay face down on the floor
Guess I'll never know what made me
Turn and walk back through that door

The shot rang out like thunder
My ears rang like a bell
No one came runnin'
So I called the cops myself
They took their time to get there
So I guess I could'a run
I knew I should be feeling something
But I never shed tear one

I didn't even make the papers
'Cause I only ****** one man
But my trial was over quickly
Then the long hard wait began
My court appointed lawyer
Couldn't look me in the eye
He just stood up and closed his briefcase
When they sentenced me to die

Now my waitin's over
As the final hour drags by
Now I ain't about to tell you
That I don't deserve to die
But there's twenty-seven men here
Mostly black, brown or poor
Most of 'em are guilty
Who are you to say for sure?

So when the preacher comes to get me
And they shave off all my hair
Could you take that long walk with me
Knowing hell is waitin' there?
Could you pull that switch yourself sir
With a sure and steady hand?
Could you still tell youself, sir
That you're better than I am?

My name is Billy Austin
I'm twenty-nine years old
I was born in Oklahoma
Quarter Cherokee I'm told

In the thread we had on my state of NJ moving to ban use of death penalty I posted a link to whats called "the innoncence project".People released from prison and death row who were proven to have not possibly been guilty of the ******* they were convicted of.How many they were too late to save due to being dead already or no DNA evidence available no one will ever know. Many of these people were convicted due to false confessions extracted from them by ***** and or false testimony by witnesses at the direction of corrupt police and prosecutors. The death penalty is too final and since it cannot be reversed to be allowed to be used as long as we have such situations that totally innocents are subjected to it.

Somebody Takes a little boy with autism. He/she ***** him, ******** beats him also, He/she does so for several days before ******* him by stabbing him to death.
Can you imagine the extremity of the ****** and pain this innocent little boy went through for days before he died? This innocent little boy who brought love and happiness to everyone he touched. How about his *** and ***? ****** or *******? Grandparents and everyone else who loved him? To live with that........It can't be imagined unless you've been through it.
There is ***** evidence, DNA, witnesses that saw the killer with the ***** and surviellence tapes showing the ***** being ********.
Now can anyone tell me with complete conviction and a clear conscience that this person doesn't deserve death?
If so why? How?
Please don't say that he will suffer more in prison. Thats lame and actually very hypocritical.
This **** does happen, its the real world. Lets face it and not live with those rose colored glasses like way too many people do today.
Thanks.

I believe in the death penalty, I believe in what God has to say about ******.. "Whoso sheddeth man's *****, by man shall his ***** be shed: for in the image of God made he man." What is this three strikes and you're out garbage, it should be one strike and you're out.

While you have a point of sorts, I don't think he was referring to ******* innocents either. Our judicial system is full of so many flaws though, especially on the federal level this type mindset could end up with many innocent lives being taken.

Haven't you seen the many, many stories of men that have spent decades in prison then freed? Freed because new DNA technology proved them innocent without a doubt. What if they had ****** these people? Real perpetrators finally caught through DNA data base matches. Its horrible enough that they lost their lives figuratively speaking, literally would have been horrible. How many innocents have we ******? It boggles the mind, good thing we'll never really know.

I know the "Yeah, yeah, everyone in prison is innocent." sarcastic argument too. Of course they aren't, but I say lets not be so quick to ****. It makes us just as guilty and like *** always said "Two wrongs don't make a right." ;)

Some has also been rush to judgement to convict anyone or someone in particular on scant evidence for political reasons or to calm people, (that the killer has been found), or even to satisfy public craving. It's still questionable that the Lindbergh baby was ****** by Bruno Hauptmann.

Sorry...my mojo has been off. Turns out my John the conqueror root, has been a Bob the builder root this whole time!

I would agree with it for ********* and multiple sex offenders.Depending on how much of a risk to society they were - I suppose all of them are really :1orglaugh .So you would need to look at every case to decide how dangerous they are.

I wish they would introduce it to the UK.It might just stop people from doing such crimes. :)

Great point, so often the need to calm the public down results in an innocent being railroaded. Quick trial, happy campers all around but the real killer still out there.

Personal note....As for the Lindberg baby, I go with the 'parents/****** did it' theory. He was an embarrassment to the ****** I think. High society sucks sometimes in the priorities they set and their what the people think crap. . :(

A pun maybe? :) I am sure it has, here and on many boards. A repeat discussion of this with some new members here is better than the 30th "How many times do you masturbate in a day" or "Who is your top 20/10/5 favorite porn stars?"

:dunno: At least to my way of thinking.
