youtube videos loading times

Q: anyway to make a video load quicker other than pausing it and allowing it to fully load?
i was at my friends yesterday and he was trying to show me some music stuff and the videos took forever to load. any other site or any other video load fine and quick..other than youtube.
any suggestions?

Get a faster internet connection is the only way I know.

Depends what time of the day it is for me. During the day it loads pretty fast, but after about 6ish it seems to slow down quite a lot.

If they are Vevo uploaded videos then they are notoriously slow. Try to find the song from a regular uploader.
Otherwise, refreshing the page right at the start seems to work for me.

It could be many things. It could be slow internet speed, you can try resetting the internet by unplugging it for 30 seconds, it could be a problem with Youtube itself or it could be too many people trying to access the video/site.

it was around 1am after the UFC ppv last night, so late night
he has DSL and never has any problems with videos on any other platform, like a yahoo video from the main page loads up instantly.
someone said i think in the wrestling/WWE thread that if you change the last few letters of the page address it will work faster, but i cant find that post in the WWE thread.
like if it was "youtube.com/abcdefg/ccc" you need to make it
"youtube.com/abcdefg/fed" and that will load it faster
i never tried it cause it loads pretty fast for me at home.
he wanted to throw his computer out the window yesterday he was getting so pissed off!

Faster doesn't always mean better. You can have a >>> (much greater than) a T3 connection, and still lag like you're on 14.4 baud. Your ISP is the key; they do the internet speed throttling...and your connection.

If you're up late like (the time this post is posted), then the Europeans are very active along with the late-night Asiatic populous. Regio-geography does play a good deal in activity and internet speed rates. Also you have to factor in the sites you visit; that's the other piece to this. Sites like Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc... get 1000's of hits per second (and sometimes even more since they've all initiated the auto-refresh).

If I'm not mistaken VEVO videos are not stored on Google's/YouTube's servers; but are stored on VEVO's...and when Youtube embeds these videos, it tends to slow down the rate of transfer (a bottleneck so-to-say).

Power-cycles/I-net-cycles sometimes works, but I often see it as last resort. They (when done) properly and correctly can take sometimes 1-5 minutes to fully see the results.

The end-user (you/your computer) is the greatest bottleneck. Windows and Tiger/Snow Leopard have hidden/stole some of your bandwidth (OS-bottlenecking). Although there are ways to disable this...I've done them (~15-20% improvement); if you are not at all savvy (COM-TIA A+ Certified & MS/Apple System Builder accredited) they are way too risky. If you do undertake any OS modification...YOU ASSUME ALL RISKS AND LIABILITIES!!!!

I listen to alot of music on Youtube, what I do is I open a bunch of videos at once, that way I can watch one and the others are loading. Either that or I have two windows open, taking turns, so one is loading while the other is playing.
