Your favorite horror game(s)?

Resident Evil i'd say is the best horror series, it's a bit unfortunate that iv'e heard loads of people say that they won't play RE5 because they think it's "racist".

Yes. Condemned: Criminal Origins is quite a good game, indeed! In some parts of the game I do not want to turn my flashlight on not knowing if the enemy will see the light or not! Or walking in front of light creeping through the boards of windows. Says a lot for the atmosphere of the game if you want to stay away and out of the light to survive! Most the time you want out of the darkness!

The second one is supposed to be just as great from my understanding!

FEAR, Silent Hill 2 and 3, Dead Space and just got done with the fear 2 demo which was pretty freaky. I heard system shock 2 was a great scary game but I never got my hands on it.

I think fear is vastly overrated IMO but its still a fun game and I well buy part 2 I like every horror game mentioned so far but one game that really surprised me was siren: blood curse I got it on the psn not knowing anything about it and just looking for something to pass the time and it absolutely freaked me at a some parts the only other game I can think of that actually scared me is the first silent hill and I played it when I was little and siren reverted me back to a child state of mind for a few moments if you're a fan of horror games get siren: blood curse its really fun just don't go into it expecting something absolutely glorious just like every game it has flaws some people might find it stupid some people might love like me its definitely not the best horror game but its definitely worth looking into

Holy run-on sentence, boogerman!

Agreed, but geez it was like reading.. ahem, listening to one of my attention deficit hyperactive friends talking. LOL!

RE I, Eternal Darkness

Eternal Darkness is alot like the first alien movie, deep anxiety and perfect atmosphere all the way through

and i agree, criminal origins was good

I'd have to go with the Resident Evil Series when your out of ammo running away from the hunters, dogs etc on resi evil 1 your heart beats a mile a minute its great stuff.

I think resi evil 4 revived the series as it was growing stale and resi 5 looks terrifing from how the new trailer looks.

Yea I like the Res Evil series and Left 4 Dead.

I love both Resident Evil and Silent Hill -- thus I like this quote from Adam Sessler:

Adam Sessler- "Silent Hill is like Resident Evil's older brother that spends his time reading literature instead of playing Duck Hunt."

Resident Evil is a lot like that nightmare where you are being chased and you can only move slowly. You are running for your life, limited ammo, and, well, ultimately, it is survival horror. The genre says it all!

Silent Hill provides psychological scares along with the jump out of dark, shadowy places scares. You hear noises, whether it being dripping water/blood, low growls, faint screams, it just really sets in your mind and you are frozen not wanting to move where the camera will pan up. Instead you wait for the enemy to get in the safety and comfort of the present camera angle. The music alone provides scares mixed with the atmosphere.

I also have the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack. It provides easy listening music, especially when I'm writing or drawing.

Favorites? The original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 4 - The Room (I loved the little floating head that flys by your bedroom window, the first time I saw it I was like what the hell was that? lol.) , Silent Hill - Homecoming, Dead Rising, and Kuon.

I want to play Left 4 Dead, Jericho, and Dead Space but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
I can't get into horror games. They just don't scare me. Bioshock had a great atmoshpere. F.E.A.R. just sucked but resident evil series is decent through 4 at least. 5 seems to be shit, mainly cause of the controls. I've never played any of the silent hill games.

Bioshock 2 looks to be pretty good, but I think I'm gonna have to pass on RE5 unless they fix the controls.

A game i remember playing was Phantasmagoria. It was released in the 90's. Compared to the games we have today it definately falls well short but back then it was the game that set the standard as far as horror games are concerned. The only downside to it was the fact that it came with 7 disc's. But having said that it was still a game that was worth playing.

jericho isn't all that the concept is cool but the game play just doesn't live up to the potential it could have had it trys to hard to be scary which in turn makes it look retarded and is a good game with to much hype around it if you have high expectations for it then you probably won't like it and left 4 dead is only fun with the people you play it with if you play with annoying people its going to be annoying

I'll admit it, I haven't finished Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Director's Cut. I have a tendency to play this game at night when I am a bit sleepy. I will start to play the game, get a little further each time when I do finally play it, and then I will use a it is getting late and I am sleepy excuse to get out of anymore!

That game is freaky when you're in the dark and sleepy!
